Hi everyone, just sorted insurance for jack, not a simple thing to do, and they have asked for verification that the factory fit immobiliser is catII thatcham approved. Unfortunately the guys at Danbury are away and I cant get confirmation from them, I know the Mex bug had factory fit alarm and there wasn't a problem with insurance. Any ideas?

I used safeguard they know Danbury t2's inside out did not need any of that they were really helpful and asked loads of questions in a bid to drop the price. Give them a ring

We used Adrian Flux who also know a lot about Brazi Bays
See the showroom on this forum for details
If you go with them the club gets £25
All the best Cool

Safe gaurd would not touch our van due to the fact jane mentioned we might add some things to it, they would only insure us if Danbury did all the conversion Question We went with Flux in the end not a brilliant price but quite a comprehensive cover, but they do insist on a report to say that it is a cat II alarm. They didn't mention a £25 payment to the club though Question

It's a factory fitted VW immobiliser. That's all they should need to know.

As far as I am aware it is not an alarm only an immobilser. Two seperate items. If their insisting on an alarm then dont rely on the immobiliser being that as they may not pay out if you have a claim.

I received the insurance docs and it says if it has a factory fit immobiliser tick here and sign the decleration, what's all the fuss about Adrian?? there is a part where you have to put the manufacturers name year of fitting etc but if factory fit just tick the box! Sorted me finks Very Happy

We're with Footman James - they have been excellent and always matched any other price we've managed to find. We have the van on a limited mileage and their quote was about £230 for the year with breakdown cover, bells and whistles etc.

Hi, just read all the emails regarding T2 insurance. Has anyone managed to get an agreed value cover on their Braz T2? I am in my second Year with SureDirect, but this year found them rather rude to deal with so would like to go elsewhere if possible.

I don't think you'd get an agreed value on a new vehicle. Think it has to be a classic of some sort to qualify.

I've been very happy with the Just Kampers Insurance so far.

I did the thing on their website where you do the drop down things and pick 'T2 Brazilian' and they ring you back...

And when they phoned me the person I spoke to didn't have a clue, and was trying to tell me there is no such thing as a 2006 VW Bay made in Brazil... so I ended up going with Adrian Flux.

would be interested to see what they quoted you...?

I am pretty sure I ended up paying £320 ish... but is on a 7500 mile limit.

They were the only people that would even quote me! Tried all the people in the vw mags, no one wanted to know.

Mine is a little more complicated, as started out as a pannel van, and logbook still says panel van, and flux did say that once I have got DVLA to change it to say Motorcaravan should bring it down another £60 a year.
