| Ok I'm a sucker for gadgets and as an iPhone user I'm always after apps to make my day easier and fun. I wanted a replacement for the stick on spirit level I had before I made some wheel arch mats for Max. I downloaded "Carpenter" for £1.19 as it's got a great surface level indicator - which beeps at you when you are level folks!! Can't wait to try it out on our next camping trip. I'll put my iPhone on the wheel arch to the right of my seat and let it tell me when we're straight and level. The display looks like this: ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Altough not used with the camper yet used it with the tent last year it's campsites and caravan sites. It uses the gps and tells you of sites in the area you are or you can search areas where you are going. It will also direct you to the website so you can check it out first. It's £1.79 but worth it if your roaming around.

| 'Places' on Android It's part of the standard OS, finds where you are then you can search for local attractions, Pubs, Restuarants, Fuel Etc. When you have an idea of where you want to go it will then bring up their website. If that isn't good enough it will then give you walking or driving turn by turn navigation to where you want to go, an display area on google maps. Do need WiFi or 3g though.
Other top App is 'Flashlight' Switches on LED flash to use as a tourch ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van

| Just got myself 'Torque' on Android.
Torque
ECU diagnostics, you need a bluetooth OBD diagnostics interface that plus into your ECU port, then connect with your phone
* View live engine data on your Android phone - Connect to your vehicle ECU * Fully customisable dashboard screens - Design your own layouts and custom dials, use your own themes * Retrieve Fault Codes (DTCs) and clear Check Engine lights - View fault descriptions using the built-in databases * Upload live data to your webserver or the torque web viewer in realtime * Check the performance of your vehicle with BHP / Torque / 0-60 & Quarter Mile widgets
Haven't got any fault logs so haven't been able to see how well it works yet.

| Two really useful apps for iphone or ipad
AlanRogers camping guides have made their uk/ europe guide book partly available as an app ... plus its free
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/alan-rogers-camping/id430319371?mt=8
and anybody heading to france and and wanting to find aire du service du camping car (free camper stops) this has a good selection called mobile car... it is not as good as the national guide book which is available in most super marche, carrefour, auchan, le clerq and cora or at the hundreds of magazin camping car et loisir (motor home stoes on the outskirts of every french town)
it is in english as well

Do you know if it is OBD or OBD 2? It would be great if it was OBD 2 as that's what our other cars use. 4 birds with one stone It would certainly be a useful tool though, thanks for pointing it out ________________________________________________________________________________

| Heaven!! Meguiars have released a free app. It's full of How To guides and videos and gives a full rundown of their products. There's also the opportunity to win one of 10 places for you and your Kombi on a Meguiars course. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| After watching the Gadget show, they had a test of transator apps. With Google Goggles for android you can scan some text using the camera on your phone and it will translate it for you. Might be able to finally understand the manual. ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van | |
