Didnt get chance to suggest this at the end of the summer - but if anybody is planning to either head down or come back up through Santander there is a brilliant site at Pechon about 40 minutes west right in the cliff tops over looking the sea great view --- brilliant tapas in the bar - great private beach some good walking and cantabrian cidre - what more does the world need

Looks great - we sailed to Santander 2 years ago and stayed in a villa in Asturias, near the Picos de Europa. Spectacular scenery but a bit wet - sort of Spanish Lancashire which was all I needed when we arrived!

The ciderias were brilliant though and the sun came through in the second week. My step son and his friend loved it because they could buy alcohol even though they were only 17.

Cider anyone?Great site near Santander Asturi10

I'd like to take Absinthe there some day.

Can you tell from today's posts that I'm looking forward to a holiday and some sunshine!

yeah its not called green spain for nowt

Picos area is great and the drive over to Rioja is fabulous about 15km of uphill upto a 1010m asl then downhill into the headwinds, sidewinds, cross winds of the spanish plain

really enjoy wandering around either Santander or san sebastian but zarautz for the gallician festival - millions of trays of pulpo is fabulous

we are waiting for the snows to start here so spending the last couple of days of holiday sorting out last years photos and dreaming of being nearer to Daphne (or bus) than 4000 miles

Walmsleys - For better weather we would like to reprise this little ditty Laughing

Go (South) West - the Life is good down there
Go (South) West - Get out in the open air
Go (South) West - It's all for you and me
Go (South) West - It's for the family
Go (South) West - The sun will always shine
Go (South) West - We all do more than fine
Go (South) West - Where the skies are blue
Go (South) West - This is what you should do
La la la la la . . .

Maybe it will bring you a little smile in the gloom of the wet and frozen North Smile
You could always try singing it to yourself to brighten your spirits Wink
Rooby Roo

I've changed the words and cheered myself up...

Go (South) West - in a campervan
Go (South) West - you'll be a happy man
Go (South) West - to St Ives or Looe
Go (South) West - it will be good for you
Go (South) West - have a cornish tea
Go (South) West - share jam and cream with me
Go (South) West - where the sea is blue
Go (South) West - just like Scooby too
La la la la la . . .

Not so sunny down this way to be honest guys and when it rains it absolutely chucks it down at the moment. The wind has been quite busy too, although temperature wise we do have a couple of degrees on the rest of the country. Roll on Springtime!

In Azerbaijan we are heading to our second period of cold for the winter - from now till end of march we could get snow at anytime and weather will range from a usual of about 4c down to -15 on some days. Just depends if weather is coming from caspian sea or te caucasus mountain. About 150km away they have already had over 2m of snow this year when we had half a m

yes so roll on spring - in april
