| I have my 6000km/6 month service due and im debating what to do. Round trip to Bristol from Essex really expensive and time consuming.
There is a VW dealer MJ Warner close who are a "Danbury Main Dealer" and also said they would service my bay under warranty.
When I last queried this to be true with Danbury I received a vague non committal answer.
So Ive asked the question again. watch this space..

I saw you had achat last night online re service, sorry I missed it. I think it would be great all round if Danbury were able to establish a network of authorised service partners..

| I think it's unlikely they'd do that SJE ... why let someone else get the cash whilst using the Danbury name?!
What we're looking for is a countrywide network of VW workshops who can service and repair both Aircooled and Watercooled Brazilian Kombis. Who have the experience of working on the Classic Bay re suspension, steering, aircooled engine etc but who also are fully competent with today's engines and the diagnostic techniques required to maintain them. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

sure, however they would be able to make money from franchising van sales. I guess it depends on what Danburys growth plans are...

| You've also got to consider Volkswagen's side of this SJE .... if the New T2 market gets too big, they'll start getting agitated and may bring the whole thing to a stop. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| Maybe a list could be created by those owners on here who use such a company as outlined by Tim for all their maintenance and servicing etc. - assuming not under warranty when we assume you would use Danbury? A "local company" to you could perhaps then be established across the UK in due course - based upon recommendations from other Brazi Bay owners? | ... but we need to build on that kiteman. The number of Kombis now on the road means that everyone should have access to a decent, fully equipped workshop within a distance of less than 50 miles from them. We need garages that are as comfortable setting the tappets on an Aircooled as they are at changing a cambelt on an AquaBay.
The only way forward, in my opinion, is for the Kombi to be seen as easy to own and run as any other campervan. As soon as you start building in constraints like, oh it can only be serviced by Danbury, then that instantly hits sales for both new and used. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| I would check with Jason before using any company claiming to be a Danbury main dealership.
I once commented to Danbury that i had noticed another company claiming to be a Danbury main dealer on the web. They informed me that they did not have any agrements with other companys, and had no main dealers. After the conversation i tried to find it on the web again, but couldn't track it down. ________________________________________________________________________________ Matt.

| Ive now had responses from both Danbury and MJWarner who concur that I must get service at Danbury to maintain their warranty. Shame a deal could be done but mine's not to reason why.
So back to making a decision - does anyone have any experience of the 3rd party warranty offered by Danbury ??

| Sorry SJE I don't get it ... what 3rd Party Warranty is this? I thought the only warranty was that from Danbury. Not Volkswagen or anyone else. Could you enlighten please? ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

When I bought my van I was told that I could buy an additional warranty (for £375 from memory) that would allow me to get serviced elsewhere - must use approved parts etc.. Granted I don't know the exact T&Cs associated with this, and I am somewhat sceptical, but Ive asked Danbury again for details.. I guess a warranty is just an insurance policy like any other ......

| If another warranty company are prepared to cover Danbury converted Kombis then surely it follows that a private individual can purchase a 3rd Party Warranty themselves? We need to look into this. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

I would assume so. Don't the AA offer something like this ?? Danbury have confirmed they will sell a Warranty for £375 + VAT (5 years), has a maximum claim limit of £2000, must use the correct VW parts, by a VAT registered garage and in conjunction with the correct servicing schedule.

| So £450 for 5 years cover? Versus however much it costs to run over to Yate, time off work, their labour charges .... with a max claim of £2000? I'd go for it. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| Max single claim of £2k or max total over the 5 years?
Either way, does anyone else think that sounds a bit low? ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| I''m sure it would be a maximum of £2000 in any one claim. Not in total overall. That would be pointless. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |
