For those of you without a proper fitted buddy seat I would recommend this which we bought for £8 from Ikea which is both comfortable and functional - it does have room inside for a small portaloo although we didn't use this on our recent camping trip but used instead as storage for all our shoes. I used a strong velcro to secure it to the floor and have to say had no problems with it moving having done 2500 miles to Tuscany and back!
At present we just use a cushion to co-ordinate with the rest of the van but I am considering painting the bottom half to match the paintwork...not sure yet as we do want to change the flooring some time soon and may wait until then to decide.
