I've never heard that one before!

Those terracotta wine coolers that you soak in water work on the same principal, or
www.vwcurtains.com/easicool.php which is what we had in our larder when I was a kid. (I was a war baby, Scoobs).

Yeah, I did, but for every individual who says it needs to be grounded, you'll find someone else saying it's not necessary!

My gut feeling is no, not necessary, but will need a definative answer from someone who knows a lot more than me!

It's a great little unit. Not too loud at all and a half-hour run will re-charge the leisure battery to around 50% withought annoying the neighbours too much!

I'll have it with me at the sleepover. If there's space, I may pack a couple of DMX lights for the disco!

If its a new EU10, it should have a floating neutral and so shouldn't need a grounding spike.

Edit - I've just grabbed a copy of the manual. Grounding is only required if the equipment to which you're connecting the generator is grounded.

I'm on the look out for a portable generator and spotted this on sale at Aldi from this Sunday.

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_25515.htm

At £60 it looks like it could do the job.

Honda make the best (in my opinion which is why we are now an official Honda Energy dealer at Danbury) ...but will cost way more than that...You only get what you pay for but its all personal choice..

Its really cheap for sure...Just don't expect quality thats all. Its probably really noisy too Mad so don't expect your nearest guests on the camp site to be impressed but the most you can loose is the purchase price so may be worth trying?

Camping aside, could be quite useful at my allotment where noise not an issue.

Looks similar to the ones Tim and I got from B&Q, I find mine quite noisy so I've also just bought a Honda EX7 which is definitely a quality item.

Yep, can vouch for it. Tis a brilliant piece of kit and just the thing to keep the leisure batty topped up. I ran it for a couple of hours each day and still had petrol left over after the w/e at Camperjam.

It does look pretty much the same as mine - and £20 cheaper.

I don't think mine is particularly noisy (rated at 91db) and given the amount I actually use it I'd much rather buy a cheap gennie and spend my money on other bits for my BraziBay. If it breaks - I'll just buy another.

I could barely hear your generator Tim, and when we get that bigger AMP for the Disco nobody on the camp site will be able to hear it either... Very Happy

Tim - on a related subject of Amps - can you tell me what make and model yours is? - we might need to buy one for the office for our annual BBQ.

Just shown the Aldi ad to my business partner and he tells me he's got one in his garage that he doesn't use and I can have it. Result!

Apparently it uses 2 stroke which he says I should buy in France because it's so much cheaper. He also confirms it's the same one as B&Q sell. He bought it off ebay for £31 last year but has upgraded to a Honda to use at his boat.

Well I was just passing my local Aldi on my way back from a meeting so I decided to pop in and take a look....

It looked good, so I bought one!

I'll let you know how it goes when I get round to using it.

As long as it runs the boogie lights Tallulah, nothing else matters.

I bought one today to. Had a few left in my local Aldi. Not tried it yet but it looks solid enough and for a penny less than £60 looks a bargain. It also comes with a 3 year warranty so I don't feel you can go far wrong.

We've enough between us to run lights, amps, strobes and smole machines if we wanted, maybe we should organise our own festival! Laughing

My business partner gave me his spare generator today. Just need to learn how to use it now.

just a reminder, before you start lugging your generators around ,some sites dont allow them ,and if they do you are limited to the times you can run them,so might be worth asking first!!!!

Thanks Tony. Not sure when we'll use it. It's quite noisy.

I suppose we could always drive off the site to a layby and run it for a while to charge the leisure battery.
