PostSubject: A week in Cornwall   Mon Jul 09, 2012 8:57 pm

Just got back from Cornwall, so here are some pics:-

Arrived on friday at Restronguet near Falmouth

We were staying with people we know in the blue house as we had Pats son, daughter-in-law and two year old and they didn't fancy camping.

A view of the creek.

Saturday looked better on the north coast, so we went to Porthtowan, but didn't stay long as all the car parks had bars at 2.1 metres, went through Captain Haddock land and ended up on Holywell beach for the afternoon.

(On the way back, we followed a metallic dark blue Kombi WX 09 *** into Mylor, which is right next to Restronguet, but they turned off before we could chat. Got a big wave back when I waved a Brazibay postcard, so I'm hoping you are on here.)

Had one or two more good days weatherwise, and visited Porthcurno

View from Minack openair theatre above the beach.

St Michaels Mount

And Porthleven for some beach fishing. It gets so rough there that there are famous pictures of waves crashing over the clocktower, and there is a plaque on the inner harbour where two policemen drowned when their patrol car was swept off the quay during a storm.

The day before we left, got chatting to the French owner of this cat, and all he kept saying was Beau Kombi, Beau Kombi, obviously a man of taste, considering what his boat must have cost!

It wasn't all rosy, had a couple of wet ones, so we went to Lanhydrock (Nasty Truss) one day, and Falmouth Maritime Museum another, with a trip round Falmouth Lifeboat station, one of them that actually let you onto the lifeboat, which was a bit worrying as the coxwain said it was 'all fired up and ready to go', and the first switches Joseph made for were marked 'twin turbo's ON' affraid Laughing

Pandora's very nice after the rebuild, you wouldn't know it was fire-gutted last year, upstairs even looks better than I expected.

Also found a nice pub, The Crown Inn at Lanlivery, between Bodmin and Fowey.

Can't help but be amazed by the cornish coastline, it's a lovelly area. Must be pretty cool to see a play from the Minack. As long as your not scared of heights

Amazing venue for sure......went to see Seth Lakeman there a few years back and although it did rain a bit - it was awesome. We even got to cut a few shapes on the improvised stage dancefloor!
