Hello, I just got stuck in with my first question without introducing myself first, how wude

I've added a pic of my baby as my aviator.

She was born in March and still doesn't have a name! How is this possible? I've been waiting for her to find her own name, as I find this is how it works with cats and assumed it would be the same with my van, but nothing yet. 'Lucky' was the forerunner for a while, as events leading up to her acquisition were most fortuitous, but she's not been so lucky since. She's had a fair few technical issues, some ongoing, and someone drove into the back of her when she was only 8 weeks old and I lost her for a whole week for repair

How have people named their vans?

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear about her first few weeks but now you have her back, the fun can begin.

Name-wise, my girls named her. I picked her up, had a name all sorted, picked the girls up from school, suggested the name and was promptly told "No, her name's Sunny". Couldn't argue with a 5 & 7 year old, so that was that.

You'll know the name when it's right.

Hi Surfer Chick - wouldn't worry about not having a name for your camper - we've had ours for nearly 4 years and with having a now nearly 7 year old child and a 5 year old child, it still gets called 'the van.' And you would think they would manage to come up with one at least, wouldn't you??

Hehe I'm thinking 'Friday' might be her name, she has so many things wrong with her she has to have been built after a boozy lunch down the pub on a Friday afternoon!

Tallulah is named after a patchwork elephant in the BBC childrens prog Driver Dan's Story Train although, as many people will know Tallulah is also the lead female character in Bugsy Malone with a very appropriate theme tune:

It was a few months before Ginger got her name. Had no intention of giving her a name, but as time went on Ginger started to be used. What with the colour of the van and being a ginger myself it had to be. When you find a name you'll know it's the right one.

Where are you based. Do you get decent surf? It's a bit few and far between down by me but get myself to Saunton Sands as often as I can.

I guess this is the point when people throw some suggestions on the table - if nothing else they will get you thinking about it....

I'm in Dorset, so we don't tend to get much surf down here. Saunton's my favourite spot, I was down there for four days over last week and the weekend before last. The view from the cliff top watching clean lines roll in is my favourite view in the whole world I think! Beautiful!

Hi surfer chick welcome to the forum...its great for hints and tips to look after your new baby and the guys/girls on here are really helpful. Er indoors decided our van would be an 'Olive' like the colour - not very original but it has now stuck. I am sure the name will emerge soon - she looks like a 'petal' to me.

Our Kombi was pre-owned and came with a name (Margot). I'm sure the right one will pop up soon, I love the colour.

Have to agree with the view from the cliffs. Even on the big days everything seems so calm from up there.

Will look out for you next time I'm there. Normally wait for a 2-3ft with offshore winds when I go, to make the 4hr drive worth it. Paddle out starts to get difficult above 4ft so tent to go local then.
I normally stay at Lobb Fields, as it's the only one in the area that I know of that allows Dogs. If I'm down without the kitegirl then I stay at Ruda, easy access to the Thatch

We were down staying in Croyde this weekend, I've spent the weekend demoing surfboards at Saunton. Happy days! I like Lobb Fields too, but this summer have really enjoyed staying in Croyde, nice to have the Thatch and their ice topped cider offering within walking distance!

Hi surfer chick. What name did you decide on for your van. Friday......Monday......or something completely different?

Still waiting for her to find her name. It just seems wrong to call her 'the van' when she has such a pretty face!
