| Hello to you all, my wife and I are the proud owners of Steeeve, an 09 brazilian danbury. After years of looking and dreaming we took the plunge. He is based on the rio design, with right hand drive converstion, direct drive steering and sunroof. We collected him in oct 09 and have unfortunately only managed a quick weekend tour of cornwall as a maidan run, last year, and a 2 night get away to Devizes in feb. He is used as the main everyday vehicle and we still have that 'we're in a campervan silly grin' on our faces wherever we go. | |

| Good news - welcome to you and your Bay. It'd be interesting to hear what you think of the Direct Drive steering. Did you try a regular Bay before to compare?
Oh .... and more pictures of Steeeve pleeeeaaasssse?!!! How did you get to that name for your Bay? ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Thank you for the welcome. The name Steeeve stuck, after driving around cornwall not being able to come up with a name that felt right. It came from that silly tv programme with the groundhog shouting "Alan, Alan, Alan, .....Alan, Alan....Steeeve". Whilst trying out numerous names one of us would periodically shout Steeeve. Although neither of us were serious, by the end of the weekend it had been called Steeeve so many times it just stuck. As to the direct drive, alas i cannot say. I, unfortunately never learnt to drive 4 wheels, so am the cheif washer. My wife has driven another camper years back and says it is an improvement, less likely to wander, however it doesnt stop the rolercoaster of a sidewind. | |

| Nope - those sidewinds can be testing at times!
I quickly learnt to anticipate the effect of the wall of air that gets pushed along in front of lorries and tend to steer towards them just as I overtake - to then be pushed away again by the invisible mass. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| Hi Matt, Can remember driving mine home when I picked it up. Strong winds, snow and the joy of overtaking trucks, think I still have the grip maks from my hands on the steering wheel. One hell of a white knuckle ride. Getting used to pre empting the blast from the trucks now. | |

| Hi Matt, Welcome to our little part of Brazil. Side winds still remain interesting after nearly four years. Billy | |

| Just back from 3 nights in north devon, the usual tour of saunton, croyde, puttsborough and woolacombe Woolacombe on a sunny evening Managed to get the awning going for the second time, Damage Barton Campsite. What better way is there to spend your time in the sunshine than in an aquabay on the north coast ________________________________________________________________________________ Matt.

| No sign of it on danburys website when I looked the other day. I hope they sort the direct drive before they sell it on. ________________________________________________________________________________ Matt. | |
