I can recommend The Inside Park at Blandford Forum. We stayed there last year, really nice site with great facilities and things to do.

We are 10 mins from inside park - with room on the driveway and a spare bedroom - so really happy to put folks up. We are about 2 hours drive from Portsmouth.
Going to have to get Ma Francais back up to scratch again !

I reckon from York to us is about 6 hours in a Kombi - perhaps a little less.

But, if you are coming down M6,M5 way then it's worth coming to us - but if you are coming down London way via M1 etc then someone in the London area could be more convenient. Depends which way you are coming down mate.

Looks like the French have suspended the requirement to carry breathalyzers in your vehicle.

What, common sense from the French? Incroyable!

A friend who lives in France reckons it was all a scam set up between a government official and the head of the company that produces the breathalysers. Captive market, sole provider. Where've we heard that before?!

Must admit, the whole thing did smack of a get rich quick scheme foe someone. Glad it's been stopped.

Our trip to France and Spain:

I've just booked our trip too.
We are going to Dieppe then traveling down to St Nazaire and taking ferry to Gijon, spending a week in Spain then ferry back to St Nazaire and then a week in France, no definite plans just see how it goes.
If anyone wants to go to Spain and is put off by the cost of ferries to Santander or Bilbao we saved about £300 going to Gijon.

Gijon is a lovely place. Went a few years ago and really enjoyed the area.

Is the breatherlyser kit still required ,as seen it quoted in the ccc mag that it is required!!!

Technically, the law for breathalizers is still on the table but at the last change of government it got suspended. It could take a couple of years for it to be officially killed, as after all, all the officialdom has to justify its costs.

I think the law still stands but they've suspended any fines.

From the Caravan Club earlier this year:

French Interior Minister Manuel Valls has announced that the law requiring motorists in France to carry breathalyser kits has been postponed pending further reports.
