Places to park up near Southampton Empty
PostSubject: Places to park up near Southampton   Places to park up near Southampton EmptyTue Oct 22, 2013 1:50 pm

Having been inveigled into taking my daughter to Southampton General Hospital on Friday for a day course, (3 hour trip from Bristol, so a 6am start Rolling Eyes ) was wondering if anyone can advise re a decent pub in the vicinity, or somewhere with a sea-view to park up for a brew.

Looks like we will be kicking our heels for 7-8 hours, and had thought of popping down to Portsmouth to see HMS Victory, so any pointers would be welcome. Cheers.

You could drive about 40 mins along the M27 (direction of Portsmouth) until you'll reach the exit for Hayling Island. Just as you reach the bridge for the the island there is a lovely pub called The Ship Inn.

It also has the benefit of a sea view car park and some great walks around Langstone Harbour.

If your going by car there's Gunwharf Quays. Not sure if the bay will fit in the car park. Loads of places to eat and not that far from the historic docklands

Thanks both, might try and do both, depending on weather, doesn't look too good at the moment.

Checked the multi storey at the Victory, 2.1 metres headroom, Dizzy's 1.95 metres so may fit, otherwise it's a walk from the nearest open-air one. Ta.
