Had Daisy's fuel tank renewed by www.arrowrad.co.uk after finding small crack at the top. Can now definitely fill right to the top with petrol. Good job done. Check out their website.

Complete renew was £265 plus VAT and £40 courier costs. At least got it sorted quickly as could not source a new tank at all although Danbury said they could order one from Brazil which could take 3 months or more to arrive!

They look handy DD, literally, they are just down the road from where I live, good find.

Seeing as they are so close, may pop over in the next few weeks with dizzy, and enquire what else they can do, I was thinking of the coolant pipes as they do rads.

If anyone else can think of other questions, I'll be pleased to ask.

(As you quote courier costs, did they fit your tank in Melksham or did you have it done locally to you.)

We had the tank taken out locally and that is why we used Arrow's courier. Arrow liaised directly with our garage. Took about a week from sending, mending and getting back. Would be interested to see what they say about coolant pipes.

Had an interesting morning, whilst I was out and about in dizzy, I popped into Melksham to the Arrowrad site for a chat.

I took some underneath pictures of the coolant pipes with me, to ask if they could make them up in stainless.

They were very helpful, but they didn't actually make the pipework. However, they repair original radiators, fuel tanks and pipework.

Basically you send them the original parts, they sandblast, and chemically clean them inside and out, and then line both surfaces with a special liquid liner which is baked on making the metal permanently impervious to fuel, water etc.

I asked about if the metal was totally rusted  through, and they said no problem, as they repair any damage, coat it, and then all repairs are pressure tested.

For the two short pipes at the rear, they said about £40, and they could also do the longer pipes as well.

Because I originally thought they built radiators, I was going to ask if the heater could be tapped off the radiator end, instead of having the long pipes from the engine, but they couldn't help on that one, so it will have to wait for another time and place.

Certainly useful if you have a classic that it may prove difficult sourcing parts for.

Found something on youtube which may be similar to what happened to your tank Daisydog.

This is part one, and there are four parts in total, which unfortunately take over 30 mins to watch, but may be of interest. It does show that quite big holes can be repaired and sealed. Also surprising how much crud comes out of a tank!
