Iris arrived at last, after a hair-raising and windy trip across the Avonmouth bridge. Very happy and hoping for a trip out tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. Planned a day of camper van organisation, gas bottle search, and just sitting in the van with a coffee and some travel books.  sunny

I get my gas bottle from the local garden centre.  They seem to have a better stock of the small cylinders.  Enjoy your day!  Basketball

The first time I went to get my gas bottle they wanted a deposit as I didn't have a previous one to exchange. I picked up an empty one at my local recycling centre and solved the problem.

We were amazed that there wasn't a gas bottle in the van when we collected her - for the small cost I was surprised that Danbury hadn't included one - it meant no brew on the way home.  Sad

As an afterthought, when you pick up your gas bottle get one of these to suit your regulator, they are only a couple of quid, and make the job a lot easier. I leave it in the box with the bottle so it is handy, hence the rusty appearance..... yours will be a lot shinier   Smile

Great tips, thanks guys. Absinthe - we had a similar conversation/moan about the lack of a gas bottle, I can only assume it might have something to do with storing gas bottles on the premises, insurance, health and safety? Anyhoo, we are off to our local garden centre, and search for a spanner.

Tbh it's a bit like the road tax though. When you first get a cylinder, it's YOU that sets up the deal with Calor etc not Danbury, so whilst I can see this as somewhat frustrating, I get the reason why - particularly when you buy new. Buy a used BraziBay and there's every chance you'll find a cylinder onboard.

Is there any way of telling how much gas is left in a bottle? There was one (used) in the van when we bought her but not sure how used. Don't want to run out mid kettle boil!

There was a bit of a discussion some time ago, about how much gas was left which involved weighing the bottle........ but in the end I think the general consensus was give it a shake and if you can hear the liquid slopping about you have enough left for at least a few brews.

I originally tried one of those magnetic indicators, but didn't have any success, it won't stick to the side of the bottle because of the weld half way down.
