| We decided to get a large (massive really) cool box to use as a buddy seat and storage if not being used to cool stuff. Now it is possible to buy a seat cushion for the lid, but we wanted to make one. So Lucy chose some "oil cloth" material, and I broke out her sewing machine and started the project today. Here is the cool box, ready to get its cushion - can seat 2 on here easily, and the rubber feet means it just doesn't slide about in the van. Plus it can keep ice icey for 5 days!  Following the instructions in a book my daughter received for Christmas called Handmade Glamping, the first step is to wrap piping code in tape/bias binding and sew up...  When done...  Then lots of measuring, then measuring again and as the saying goes another measure for good luck before cutting the pieces.  The cushion is going to be held in place on the cool box using some "push snaps" (not sure of proper name) on 4 "tabs". Here are most of the bits, and the finished tabs that I practiced attaching the piping to.  Then I attached the piping all of the way round the top panel.  That was enough stress and swearing for one day. Bless Oliver - he could see me getting frustrated and said "Don't worry Dad - it is going to be a triumph". I hope so, pretty pleased with how it is going so far, but I would rather have a screwdriver or axe in my hand any day.  Going to do the bottom and sides tomorrow. Bottom needs piping attaching and the integration of the tabs, so should be exciting. Will post an update soon.
