I hope I am not preaching to the converted here. But this is one charity payment that is money well spent. I have been a member for over twenty years and just renewed my membership. If you havent joined just consider this.. if you are out in your van and you come across a National trust site you can park there for free if you are a member. Most sites that I have visited have very good car parks with excellant services. So for an outlay of very little you can park for free for a year, oh and whilst you are there you can also visit for free... to most of the sites and finally you also get a very nice subtle car sticker.

Same sentiments as above, we have just come back after a week in Cornwall, and a lot of the beachside car parks are NT, which are free for members.

When we are out and about the rest of the year, we often park up for a brew and sandwiches in NT car parks, a lot of which have good views.

It's a bit 'horses for courses' Ian, we like quiet and quaint, but here's a link for free car parks for NT members.

We happen to like Porthcurno near to Lands End, good for kids, and when the tide goes out you can get round the headland to another expanse of beach, Holywell Bay on the north coast also good for kids and surfing. There's a stream down the side of the beach toddlers can safely play in. Kynance Cove on the Lizard if you like a trek down to the beach.

Loads more which I'm sure others will suggest, but I just use OS maps and go for an explore, it's surprising what you find. (Bonus of a Kombi, and one of the reasons we bought one over a motorhome, is that they fit most Cornish back-roads, having said that it can be quite exciting at times   Shocked Very Happy )

(There are also some photos from last year under 'A sunny week in Kernow', and 'Kernow part two' in Bay Trips, and 'A week in Cornwall' on page 2)

Thank you dizzylizard

Think we will go to Hollywell Bay just looked on the map and what you have mentioned sounds good. Can you stay over night in any of them?

Can't say for certain, but I think generally the NT and Council don't allow overnight camping in car parks.
