Oh dear ... T5 Californias corroding

Noticed an article about this in a mag today. Nothing to get excited about but just goes to show that even the brand spankers can suffer.   

T5 Cali Roof Probs

Yep, it sure is, pay a fortune for a new bus and they have a corrosion issue due to the alimuinium roof meetingagainst the steel body. Fortunately for us they have resolved the issue post Sept 13 so hpe we won't have any problems. Tobe fair to VW they will honour any problems in their six year warranty and will replace and repair together with offering a Cali replacement whilst it away for the wor to be carried out. I don't know what mag you read it in but I am aware David Eccles has written one and he has a Cali. It appears a design error and will be costly for VW.

Yes I saw this on the T5 forums a couple of months back when I was looking at getting a California. But credit to VW in agreeing to fix the issue (and I read that they've sorted the issue at factory level for '14 models.

Yes it was VW Bus I had in my greasy paws. I put it back on the shelf.   

Yep a known problem for quite a while on California models . .

Most likely built in Brazil :-)
