A pal of mine is looking for a T2 and has seen one advertised on a website called www.worldofvw.com Its reference number on there is VW445OR A 1997 Danbury . its on page 2.
Its up at £4940 and is supposed to have undergone full restoration in 2010
It states its in London then when contacted said it is in Scotland,
The seller then said it had to be purchased through ebay as a private listing from them as they were scared of being ripped off? ...etc etc et...
reg number TPM419S
Wont give there contact number, and all done via email...Be aware...

TPM419S is a 1977 registered T2. It may well have been an original 'Danbury' conversion ie. the company that Beetles UK purchased.
Regardless, does all sound rather slippery if not being straightforward about contact and location. I'd avoid.
On the upside, I wasn't aware of this particular website and have just entered us on the club listings so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

The vehicle check site I tried also confirmed most of above + vin not available, SORN in place, Reg date 01.10.77 ........colour yellow.
If you look at the photos, you can just make out what appears to be the phone number 07515 434333 if anyone is interested in making contact. (I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole)
A young lady in my village did a similar thing via ebay last year and got stung for 8 grand.

Yes I've seen a good many of these for sale scams. The syntax and grammar are often a way to spot them and also very vague details about location. I went on a 'hunting expedition' withnone of these a while back. The bus was supposedly based in london so I phoned the mobile number - no reply. I then got into email saying was very interested. Guess what? The bus magically moved to a Scottish Military base as the owner had been sent on a course there. Well, talk about falling ino may lap lol I replied that I knew the base very well and that 'my team' were also deploying to the same base over the same time period and that it was the perfect opportunity to eet up and view said bus. Well you know the rest. Total silence. I did love the bit about 'after receiving payment by paypal, we will deliver the goods to you within 7 days at our expense' haha

I think it's been removed now. I hate the fact that people use campervans to con people.

I called the telephone number mentioned above an hour or so ago and told him about the advert, where it was etc. He said he had sold it a couple of months ago.. Didn't seem too happy about me calling him though?!?
Heyho, at least it might have helped to stop someone losing their money eh?
