I popped into a local company, Trailer Tek, this morning to take a look at a camping trailer they had with the added feature of a bike rack on the top. It was a clever design although a little steep at £750. They do have a hire service though so it could be an option for a one off period.

We have an Erde 193 with ABS hard top, bars and four bike holders (here shown with a windsurf on top as well!). We've not used it with Bumble (and probably wont do so), but ordered it (in French!) in Feu Vert, in Dunkirk, as it was much cheaper than buying it in the UK. We went back a couple of weeks later when they had left a message on our ansaphone saying it was ready; confused the hell out of P&O when we went out without a trailer (though paid for one) and returned with one

What was the difference in price from the UK Bumble?

Cannot quite remember, as we bought it in about 2006/7 and had the ABS top and jockey wheel at the time; the bars were fitted the following year.
However prices now (for the basic 193, which is a big trailer - external dimensions 190 x 120 x 45 - and was the largest with single wheels, I believe) is:-
(b) Feu Vert - 899 Euros (£712.73) - http://www.feuvert.fr/remorque/erde-remorque-erde-193/p075492.html
so that's a saving of £187.26 on the trailer
I particularly like the ABS top, as it's lockable/waterproof and somewhere we could put all our camping and cycling junk - bags, helmets, etc. - rather than have it all in the tent with us).
(we originally had a much smaller Erde trailer, bought from Halfords, which we outgrew - with beach stuff for camping and three children - before we bought this one).

Ok cool - thanks for the info.
I guess you do have to include the ferry and fuel costs to collect in the calculation though. Unless you were going anyway ...

That's quite a saving. For next years Kombi Kaper, taking a trailer (up to 3m long) costs an additional £39ew on the ferry.
