We enjoyed the Netherlands so much last year, we plan to go back this September. We really liked the country and found the trip reasonably straight forward, although we speak no Dutch. Contrary to many guides, we did not find that many people spoke good English, and Melinda's German got nul points.
The first good point for the VW is that most of the place is slide rule flat, none of those pesky Welsh hills. They are keen campers, and we found the sites a good mixture. The bicycle is certainly king, but often there are separate cycle/walk lanes. Where vehicles and bikes mix, it is fair to assume that whatever the law, the bikes have priority. We can't wait to go back. Much of the Country is densely populated, but we found the roads to be good, and not over busy.
