Wed Apr 15, 2015 9:09 am It was with great sadness on Monday that Ann and I sold Steeve back to Danburys. When we bought him in 2009, we had visions of keeping him forever, he was our dream vehicle. In 2013, whilst driving to London the steering developed an alarming knocking and the steering wheel juddered. We managed to get Steeve to danburys and had to have the direct drive system re-set up. 6 months later the steering failed completely with little warning. A universal joint snapped. Steeve was sent to danburys on a truck and mended. Last week, with no warning at all, we lost all steering again. We have both lost all confidence in the van and consider it dangerous. I would like to thank you all for the witty banter, invaluable advise, and general merriment that has gone into this forum over the last 5 years. An big thank you to Tim, and to the admin team, for the on going hard work and enthusiasm that drives it on so successfully. We have invested the money from steeve into a 2007 t5, from which we will now be able to camp next to an older (or Brazilian van) and not look in envy, we have been there now, and unfortunately for us it had to many problems. Happy journeys to you all.

Wed Apr 15, 2015 10:14 am I'm both shocked and really sorry to read this Matt. After this series of failures I can understand your loss of confidence. I wonder what the underlying cause of this is? You've been an invaluable member here and I hope you stick around if anything for the banter. Have fun travels in your T5.

I used to pass Steeve on my way to work every morning. It was parked at the Yellow Dot Nursery and it always made me smile. Have a great summer with your T5.

Mon Jun 01, 2015 6:28 pm Steeve has at last been spotted in the stock for sale listings on danburys website. Interestingly there is no mention of him having their direct drive system, so presumably they have removed it and refitted an original steering box and axle. No pictures as yet. They have him listed as purple? It will be interesting to see if he's been resprayed to cover the developing rust.
