| I had a Longlife stainless steel exhaust fitted 18 months ago. The difference you'll find is in the power and performance. If you put Longlife into the search facility you'll find lots of info and links to your local fitting centre. | |

| just been asking around about the stainless steel exhausts and someone has mentioned you get a bit more power as you suggested, but they also said that a different air filter and chipping it slightly would help... is that possible do you think? ________________________________________________________________________________ Timmm

I only know of 1 owner who has done this: Dennis. Get a new Longlife exhaust first. Notice the difference. Then investigate further possibilities. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

Get a new Longlife exhaust first. Notice the difference. Then investigate further possibilities. The remap Dennis had was from longlife in Swansea. As far as i'm aware they're the only people that offer an "off the shelf" remap. Personally I would get one done where the van goes on a rolling road to get a propper analysis before it's remapped. Saying that though remember these are old style vans not modern T5s. They're not designed for speed and powet ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van

| what BHP are they now and what would one chip up to sensibly? would you not think any vw dealer/specialist would be able to do the deed? if not, what would be the reason?
I dont think anyone would expect a racing car but as a few people mentioned earlier, if it gives a bit more power... that would be handy. ________________________________________________________________________________ Timmm

I dont think anyone would expect a racing car but as a few people mentioned earlier, if it gives a bit more power... that would be handy. Watercooled is 85 Bhp, not sure on the air. Would think in the 60s. Getting it chipped I wouldn't expect more than an extra 10-15 on top of that. To get a propper remap a car needs to be put on a rolling road and the ecu data read, the settings are then tweeked and tested and then tuned to what you want. A vw dealer won't do this, you will have to go to a performance specialist. You'll be looking at around £400+ to get it done. Another thing to remember is. Our Kombis are not sold in this country, it's not as simple as getting a Golf or Polo chipped as I doubt many places have the info required to do a straight remap ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van

Looks great, I took our Brazilian Bay to Italy for my eldest daughter's wedding. My wife and I drove and everyone else flew. My wife had the only big hat at the wedding.

Sometime in July. Don't want to be anymore specific for security reasons! ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Prepped the van for a trip to Wells Next the Sea, Norfolk. Cleaned the cooker, sterilised the water container, re-attached Alana my Hawaiian dancing girl to the dashboard (an automatic MOT fail when in place), emptied out unnecessary equipment inc fan for keeping cool , filled the spare oil bottle and lots of other things. Plugged the van in so the wife can have the fridge on. I had an outdoor commando socket fitted on the garage so we did not need an adaptor for charging at home. Very handy. ________________________________________________________________________________ what is best in life ?

Does not really block my vision in any way though could be seen as a distraction. I do remove my phone holder when my Kombi goes in for its MOT - effectively it could be construed as impairing the driver's view, so makes sense to simply remove it for the day. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| A last minute change of plan saw us loaded up with bikes, boats and bodies and heading to the New Forest rather than Wales as originally planned, as the weekend weather forecast for Wales storms and heavy rain.
Spent Friday night at Roundhill Campsite near Brockenhurst, a camping in the forest site, and spent the Saturday cycling around the forest with a nice pub lunch.
Saturday night we stayed at our friends beach hut near Calshot, then spent all day Sunday on the beach, in the sea and on the kayaks. We were also joined by a few of the happy house gang which was great!
Home again now, unpacked and exhausted. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| Oh we did something to M1CEY this weekend! Our first alterations. Dan fitted a new stereo and we took the inside boot panel off and covered it in a "driftwood" type vinyl. We think it looks great (it was our tester panel) so we'll move onto the rest asap.
