I fitted a 3 pint harness to the rear centre seat, made up a 10 metre long colour coded (blue) mains hook up - blue plugs both ends and blue cable Smile

re-attached Alana my Hawaiian dancing girl to the dashboard (an automatic MOT fail when in place),

Had a large  surfer doll mounted on my dash. Never took it off for an MOT and passed everytime

Must depend on how fussy the MOT station is. I was told to take it off or fail.

Does not really block my vision in any way though could be seen as a distraction.

yep we had the same experience with our MOT in March . we did it through Danbury , and their garage has the same attitude !

Had the battery on trickle charge all weekend.

As the radio I have fitted needs a permanent live and the radio is wired into the starter battery, it drained it after three weeks. Sad

I guess I should rewire the radio into the leisure battery; what's the nearest source on the dash from which I can then take a positive live, please?

That's not good. The permanent live normally just means it can be switched on without the ignition and/or the settings are kept in the memory which takes the tiniest of tiny charge to maintain. If it drained in 3 weeks I would suggest there is something else going on.

Some radios have a 'demo mode' that needs to be deactivated as it draws power while active. Others, like ours, have a 'standby' mode as well as being switched fully off, and again they will draw a charge while in standby. I have adjusted the settings so that if the unit is in standby for 3 hours it will automatically turn itself off.

Fuse box on near side B pillar.

Thanks Tim, that's where there are four fuses, yes?

It may be longer than three weeks (how long ago was the sleepover?) No demo mode as far as I'm aware.

Yes where the leisure battery power is distributed. If you're clever you can feed a wire up the B pillar, behind the headlining and down the windscreen pillar. It takes patience, but makes for a neater job.

My radio steals it's power from the flasher unit which seems a bit dodgy. I assume taking the front off the radio reduces the drew to next to nothing?
