| OK - some of you requested some photos and details of Glastonbury Carnival (www.glastonburycarnival.com) in case you feel like joining us next year. Photos above - the carnival starts at 7pm and runs through til about 9.30/10 depending on where on the route you stand. As you can see, huge floats, much music, thousands of light and some very energetic 'floatees'. The streets are lined with people and a great atmosphere prevails.
www.theoldoaks.co.uk
We stayed at The Old Oaks Touring caravan Park and campsite, a dog friendly (but not children friendly) campsite situated just behind the Tor. A well kept camp site with great showers that just stay on - no wriggling around to find the spot where you can keep the button pushed in for hot water!
We booked the coach for £4.75 per person back into town at 4.15 which then departed the town at 10.15 and we also pre-booked tea at the old abbey tearooms for £22.50 for a two course meal and a glass of decent wine - this was eaten at 5.20 and I guess we came out at about 7 then milled around in the shops until the carnival started.
The camp site gets booked up quite early - the downside is they are not keen on late arrivals so even tho we had booked to arrive on the Friday night we didn't go down until the Saturday morning as someone was a bit miserable on the phone - having said that I think that probably worked better for us - and as my mum was sleeping in the awning - def worked better for her. On the Sunday we walked up the Tor and then went to Clark's village in Street for some retail therapy before heading home.
The camp site say that altho they don't encourage groups they would be happy for a few well behaved bays - they say they are a tranquil site but as the carnival after-party boomed across the valley til about 3am that didn't really work out.
I've just checked and there's availability for 2 night stays (or longer) - I think 2 night must be a minimal booking for that weekend at a max of £62.50.
So anyone up for it - let me know and I'll give them a ring to see which options to choose to see if we can be together.
P.s. there's some videos on the brazibay facebook site |

| Looks like a great weekend. The adult only campsite would be an issue for us but the there might be alternatives. | |

| Hi Als Many thanks for putting this up on the Forum - the pics and video look AB FAB. How soon do you think we should book anything if they get booked up early? Anyway, this is something we think we need to react to quickly if we are going to book it. As previously discussed, Scooby would certainly be up for this event (so there would be at least the two of us next year ). We suggest everyone reads through the above info and if interested please respond promptly. Assuming there will be some interest let's start an attendees list: 1) Als (paid - Fri/Sat + coach + 5.30pm meal) 2) Scooby (paid - Fri/Sat + coach + 5.30pm meal) 3) AbsintheKombi (paid Fri/Sat/Sun + coach + 5.30pm meal) 4) Voyager (paid Fri/Sat/Sun + coach + 5.30pm meal) ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run

| Ok - then - so - book a 'hard standing pitch with electric' - tak Brazilian bay in the notes section. Meals and coaches can be booked later. The meal was on a timed seating so it would be good to eat together |

| We're booked in for the Friday and Saturday night.
ALso the coach tickets are now available so we've booked 2.
The dinner options are also now available - I would suggest option 1 at 5.30 or 6.oo - they only seat 12 at any one sitting so think we would need to move swiftly on this one if we want to secure the same sitting - any thoughts on time preference? Carnival gets to that spot on the high street at about 8pm but viewing spaces get filled up so wouldn't want to leave it too late. The coach got into Glastonbury at approx. 4.30 |

| How do we book the coach, ALS? Are dogs allowed or should we have a rare weekend away without him?
5.30pm for the meal sounds good to me. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| dogs are allowed on coach and in restaurant altho I'd question whether they'd enjoy being stood in a crowd with all the commotion for so long and they can't be left in van.
To book coach - website then - services - events - Glastonbury carnival picture - book coach seats -
and if you click on the green 'eating options' under the where to eat section you can click option 1 (interestingly cheaper next year than this year!)
I have now booked two of the 5.30 slots for us |

| Hi Moira. There may be. It would be great if you could come. You'd need to check with the campsite. All the details are earlier in this thread including which dinner sitting we're booked into. Let us know how you get on. |
