| Has anyone got experience of buying private plates?
I am keen to get some, but don't know if the prices quoted on non-DVLA sites include all the necessary registration etc.
Any advice / places to buy etc. would be much appreciated.

| Dvla usually includes transfer fee. Lots of other sites selling reg numbers but usually extra for transfer paperwork . look on eBay too . Good luck | |

| I've always bought mine from the DVLA site, including the t/f fee. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| I've only ever bought registrations direct from DVLA. As jj123vw states, their prices include the £80 transfer fee. Other sellers vary.
Also, always check any reg on the DVLA website, because a lot of the other sellers see the plates for sale with the DVLA and place them on their own sites, with an increase in price!!! You order with them and they then buy it off DVLA and sell it to you!! Do your homework!!
Remember you cannot make a vehicle seem newer than it is, but you can go older.

| Scooby has used the following two organisations in the past, but as mentioned above, doo your homework first.

| Thanks folks. Looks like DVLA is the best bet.
Now, the next question is where to go to to get the split of letters and numbers to read like you want it too! Any suggestions?

| Or the bloke who does the plates at ?Dubs in the Park (near Basingstoke), who did Bumble's and we added a line 'Bumble the Brazilian Bay' at the bottom of the plates.

I need to talk to someone who knows ideally, but all I want to do is split the two numbers so I get a 'T2' prefix!! Our bus was driven around for 10 years (by previous owner) with black and silver plates even tho it is an 05 plate, so I am not hugely concerned that the boys in blue will be too harsh!!

| Eddie has a 'T2 VW' prefix but they are as rare as hen's teeth! | |

| We've used DVLA and Plate Hunter. Both very easy to deal with.
