Sun Oct 24, 2010 3:40 pm Every time I look at Petal's useless eyeball vents it reminds me that I was expecting a 'proper' heating and ventilating system when I bought her but now I've put them to good use. I've also been disappointed with the amount of extra volume I have to use on the motorway, up from 16 to 20 on the display so I've added some tweeters to the door mounted fron speakers.
This is the Boss tweeter kit I bought for £20 on ebay:-
The tweeters can be surface or flush mounted by using the appropriate plastic eyeball mount and piggy backed on the door speaker wires via an L-C high pass filter.
The vents just pull out:-
The flap and the control lever are one piece that just pop out, the louvres are very flexible and cut easily with stout scissors:-
Make it tight and the springy remains of the louvres will hold the tweeter mount firmly without resorting to glue:-
Connect to the filter and pop it all into the hole in the dashboard, connect up in parallel to to door speaker wires which will run close behind the vents and enjoy:-
In stereo of course:-

Luckily, I have LHD and mine do cough out a few cc of air now and then. The sticker is really helpful. Last time I did 140mph, my windows rattled quite a bit!
