| Hello All,
So grabbed a bargain on EBAY. A pioneer Apple Car play double din headunit for £220 never used. Whoever fitted the last head unit in my van decided to graft the always on (yellow wire) into the red (acc - ignition on wire) Think i know why now in that i cant find an acc feed to use. Most car stereos need an acc connection as well as always on 12v. The idea being that when the ignition is switched on the stereo received power and turns off with the ignition also. The always on supply maintains the memory in the headunit.
the last stereo was a face off type and had a power off button but the new unit has neither so unless i supply an acc to it it will never turn off causing battery drain.
I could install a manual switch from another 12v feed but would much rather get a true acc feed from the ignition. I need to know which colour i am looking for as i dont fancy hacking the ignition wires and testing each one with a multimeter,
thanks in advance

| The majority of Brazibays have their stereo wired directly to the leisure battery so that it can be on without needing the ignition and can be used when pitched. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| There might be a spare leisure battery positive feed on the fuse panel on most vans behind the passenger seat. We used this for all leisure battery take of for chargers etc. ________________________________________________________________________________ Visit my T2c Blog at http://t2bay.blogspot.co.uk/ | |

| I found the ACC wire behind the dash by using a multimeter and rationalised the rest of the wiring as whoever had the van before me did a hack job (clearly didnt own a multimeter!)
New Apple Car Play double din headunit now installed so i now have voice activated calling and texing. Full nav and access to all the music on my iphone.
Its possible to add a reversing camera but would need to work out how to get the reverse sensing wire to work.
thanks for the replies all

| I have a similar issue. I intend to take a feed from the cigarette socket below the radio. That's ignition switched. Mine too is fed from the leisure battery (which was a pain over winter when it was out). The reversing sensor wire connects to the reversing lights. When you put it in reverse the light comes on, feeds the radio and the radio automatically stops what its doing and shows the rear camera. I have one to wire into my flip up radio. I was going to hack my dashboard to fit a double DIN, but the flip up one fits the single DIN perfectly. ________________________________________________________________________________ I am an Engineer. I will fix this!

| I have an 07 aqua bay (Danbury Rio). My radio seems to be connected to the starter battery which is a pain as I'm paranoid about having the radio on when camping in case I flatten the battery even when I am paying for an electric hookup. Would you expect ALL Danburys to have the radio wired to the leisure battery ? I am wondering if it is worth have a look to see if I have a live from the leisure battery lurking behind the dash somewhere ? | |

| Danbury only seem to have wired the radios to the leisure batteries in more recent years. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

I would look to see if you have it behind the passenger seat on the cabinets. There is typically 4 fuses connected to Leisure battery and therefore hook up - Sink Tap pump, Lights, Fridge and a Spare. It should be quite easy to then route it to the radio. The only issue is that you might have the same issue with leaving it on and flattening your leisure battery. At least you will still be able to start! ________________________________________________________________________________ Visit my T2c Blog at http://t2bay.blogspot.co.uk/

Thanks for that, I will look for that later.
