PostSubject: Personal import from Brazil any updates?   Wed Dec 22, 2010 9:26 am

HI just reading this earlier thread about a personal import from Brazil - just wondered if anything came of it?

http://brazilianvwbay.forumotion.com/t434-importing-from-brazil-youself

I would be interested myself.

Unfortunately it seems Danbury have you by the short and curlies in this country....... good luck to them btw great business idea who ever thought of it but I dont have a spare £20K+ plus to spend.

I agree there is no market for Beetles in this country and the originals are so cheap now its not worth the trouble unless you can buy them for £500 over there!!

Buying used over there if ex-taxis they must be hammered to death not something I would want. I doubt they pre register them like over here?

Group buy anyone? Shocked

There are other companies that can get you a new Kombi. Check our advertisers.

With regard to a personal import, there's a lot of red tape to go through, starting with the requirement of a registered address in Brazil to enable you to buy a Kombi in the first place. If you Google 'export from Brazil' you'll see what's involved.

Thanks for the reply- my company has an office out there so may be tempted to ask around internally so to speak?

Hmm well just curious to see what turned up after that thread if anything?
