| Hi,
I've been a type 2 owner since the mid 80's (had two 'originals', one a 1972 reg and another 1979 reg). Had my current Danbury aircooled since 2004. Just got fed up with scuffing my knuckles, poking around on a concrete floor under the old vans, getting piles, while grappling with wrenches and rusted bolts! Nice to have a new one.
We don't drive it hard, just weekends and camping hols in the UK and some additional leisure trips. Don't usually drive it for work (cost of petrol!).
Never had any probs with it mechanically though get it serviced most years at the Danbury HQ, which is only a 45 min drive away. Need to sort out the damned tap which keeps failing, and get a respray on a bad door scrap picked up recently.
Only just found out about this site - had a sticker on my windsreen at work, when I did drive it in, from a fellow type 2 enthusiast and site member who mentioned it. | |
