Sun Canopies

Hey Guys

As mentioned in the Dubs in the Forest post, the new 2012 Funky Leisure VW Campervan Awnings are expected the second week of July 2012.

The new updated awnings will be available in Chianti Red, Brilliant Orange, Delta Green and Ocean Blue - see the colours at the bottom of the link below.

The new colours seem to cover a good number of Kombi Kolours

As it appears one or two people are considering getting one (maybe Kiteman, thesplitsombrero and even Scooby) and we have seen Tallulah's Sun Flower version, we thought it might be worth investigating the numbers with a view to possibly obtaining a group discount (even a Club Discount Tim)

So if you are interested please can you reply accordingly

They look good. I'd put my name down for a yellow one, I mean orange.

When we get some sun again you never know orange may fade a little to become almost yellow

We used ours for the first time last weekend and although it started out as a sun canopy it soon became a very good rain/wind shelter!

Thinking about one as well - they should pay Tallulah a commission

I know it says 'showerproof' but I wonder if they are waterproofed in production at all? Fancy a red one tbh.

But it must be 'red' and not maroon.

The material certainly feels like it has been waterproofed. The only leaks occurred where water was pooling on top - slow seep through then drip - so getting the right tension on the 5 guy ropes sorted most of that out.

I swapped some emails with Funky Leisure before buying ours so I'm happy to negotiate on behalf of the forum.

Been thinking about theses for some time.
Made one from an orange tarp but haven't given it a propper test yet.
Think getting a propper one will look a lot nicer.

We might be interested come July as most of the expensive stuff through the year has gone then

The way we're going we won't need a "SUN" canopy till July anyway

Looking forward to these but would like to know the cost before the final order is confirmed.

The cost per Sun Canopy ended up at £70.00 each, based upon the terms previously outlined - please note the . . . delivered to one UK mainland address

Price confusion!

Says £70 for a canopy on their website now - so what's the advantage of them being sent to 1 address? Or will the price go up for the new batch?

The Sun Flower version on their website is currrently £69.75
The solid colour versions on their website are priced at £72.75 but out of stock
The new 2012 versions, with the improvements and new colours will be £79.95
The club discount price for 4+ delivered to one address will be £70.00

Their standard delivery charge appears to be £4.99. Think I'd spend double that in petrol coming to collect it from Scooby Stores!

I think I'll bow out Scooby. I like them but to TBH I think the sunflower one looks more fun and although a saving can be made on bulk, given the post to one address, I don't see any saving overall.

Some good feedback for Funky Leisure and the basis for further negotiations....

....ask for more discount or free delivery to multiple addresses given the number who have expressed an interest.

I think Funky Leisure were at CamperJam last year with these so assuming their new stock will be with them in time you could arrange a pickup from there - I think almost everyone who is interested in one will be at CJ this year too.
