fuel - Fuel E10? Empty
PostSubject: Fuel E10?   fuel - Fuel E10? EmptySat May 26, 2012 6:12 am

i have a question for filling up the tank with "super bleifrei - E10"
is it okay to filling up the tank with E10, or better not?

In brazilien the kombis are filling up 100%Ethanol. in germany it is 5% normal in the fuel. in the new times here are 10% in the fuel. but not all cars can use this. but it is cheeper as the 5% Benzin.
so my question to use the 10% ?!
best from me
hope i could tell it in the right form to you

fuel - Fuel E10? Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fuel E10?   fuel - Fuel E10? EmptyWed May 30, 2012 11:01 am

Thanks Michel - bit of a fiddle to get copy-pastable text out of that page*, but Google Translate says I'm good:

Quote :
Dear Sir, Madam,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your Volkswagen is using the vehicle identification number VIN # # suitable for running on E10 fuel.
Extensive testing experience in different markets and technical evaluations of individual components has shown that there is no difficulty on the vehicles / engines by operating on E10 fuel are expected.
Please fill up only E10 fuel, which is marked at the pumps as follows:
"Sulfur-free super-E10, RON 95, E DIN 51626-1"
Please note, however, that this confirmation is only valid for Volkswagen vehicles that can run on premium gasoline with a minimum of 95 octane and the series was correct. To parts from other manufacturers that may have been built later, we can make no statement.

Yours sincerely,
Your Volkswagen Customer Care

Good to know the options for travelling abroad.

* Want to double check your own engine? Put in your VIN at the link in Michel's post. Then compare the text it gives you against the full list of possible replies here: http://www.volkswagen.de/de/servicezubehoer/e10/_jcr_content/stage/m303_stage_3col/mediaRef$flashEditData.data.xml . You can then copy-paste the relevant paragraph into Google's gobbledegook generator.
