After the successful club trip to La Foret in 2013, we're of on a similar venture for 2014.

The trip takes place between Saturday 26th July and Wednesday 6th August 2014.

Campsite: Oceano d'Or

Similar journey to the trip to La Foret. Ferry out pm from Portsmouth to Caen at 10.45pm, ferry back pm from Caen to Portsmouth at 4.30pm.

We are heading out on Saturday 26th July.

Sailing out from Portsmouth to Caen (arriving the next day) and returning from Caen to Portsmouth. The pricing is as follows:

2 persons in 1 campervan £920
Extra person £52
Extra child (under 13) £32

This price includes 10 nights at the campsite inclusive of electricity, local taxes and ferry crossings (2 berth inside cabin.) Different crossings and/or cabins may incur additional charges. Overheight and overlength charges may apply and are not included in these prices.

Make sure you have switched your units into Kms and disabled any speed camera alerting function, as these are banned in France.

Here’s a list of items you MUST have on-board your Kombi to legally drive in France:

1. Headlight Beam Convertors
2. GB Sticker
3. Hi Viz Vest – one for each person on-board
4. Spare Bulb Kit
5. Warning Triangle
6. 2 Breathalysers (under review but so cheap worth having)

In addition, the following are recommended:

1. Fire Extinguisher
2. First Aid Kit

You MUST have the following documents on-board:

1. Full Valid Driving Licence (both parts – paper and card if you have the latest type)
Suggest you photocopy this to keep copy at home.
2. Vehicle Registration Document V5 (original) – suggest you photocopy this to keep copy at home.
3. Insurance Certificate
4. Passports

Meet up in Portsmouth Saturday 26th July at 2045 hours

B = Shell petrol station - please fill up before boarding the ferry
C = Entrance to Brittany Ferries Check-In

As last year I suggest we meet up in Flathouse Road next to Morrisons before heading towards the ferry terminal.

Could I please urge everyone to fill up their tanks (first click remember!) at the Shell station at point B if you haven't already done so heading into Portsmouth. This is to enable us to get to our stop point in France without having to break off for fuel.

Then point C is Check-In at Brittany Ferries.

Effectively we are travelling as a group and Brittany Ferries require us to be there 90 mins before departure (it would be nice to board the ferry together - if anything as it'll look amazing!) Therefore I propose the following timetable:

2045 Arrive Portsmouth - park in Flathouse Road
2115 Check-In at Brittany Ferries Terminal
2245 Ship departs

NB: please remember to pack an overnight bag for use on the ferry. The cabins are good but not huge so lugging large bags up from the car decks is not a great idea.

Interested in this - slightly depends on dates

If this turns out to be a re-run of this year, dates-wise I think we'd be looking at going out Sat 26/Sun 27th July +/- 1 day and back Tues 5th/Wed 6th Aug +/- 1 day.

We're interested depending on dates. We'd probably do the reverse of what we did last year and join you at the end of our 3 weeks, particularly if you're going over on the first week of the school hols.

That would give us two weeks out of season and one with our favourite holiday gang!

We'd want to get the ferry back from St Malo though, so we might not be in either of the convoys.

I've got to check when my business partner is going away though, as I grabbed first dibs last year.

Hope we're able to tag along. sunny

I've shown the pictures to my girls and they said "Do it." So, that seems like I've been told. Just have to get dates for clearance with their mother.
