First coat of colour now on the panels, they'll get another coat tomorrow.

Looking very good. Nicely matches the camper in the shelf in the background. Can't help but feel Sunshine Daisy will chip in with some comment about their yellange paint job.

You've seen the video for the Coolest Cooler then!

I was thinking about adding solar panels to the lid and it could easily have its own (removable) leisure battery, in which case a whole world of 'attachments' would be possible.

The 'trailer lid' project has however been parked for the time being, the main priority being to get this trailer back on the road in time for France. 13 days!!!!

If Daz can rebuild and refit an engine several times over in less time, I'm sure a mere trailer rebuild is well within the bounds of probability.

Gave the panels a second coat tonight and finished the electrics earlier as well as fitting a few bits and pieces in advance of the main "put together".

Bought some underseal which will go on the underside once it's all together and some orange number plate screws.

I think that's everything sorted now, just need to put it all together.

Hi all - A little off topic , but does anyone know what the towing capacity is of water cooled model . I looked on Danbury site and noted that they offer a caravan ( tear drop model ) with a dry weight of 575 kg to go with the T2 models . On this basis I assume the towing capacity of 575kg ...or there abouts . any clues ?

From the handbook, unladen weight 1259kg, gross weight 2300kg, and max permissible vehicle + load, + trailer and load 2300kg.

IIRC it's 750kg

The trailer needs to be less than 85% of the towing vehicle's unladen weight and if over 750kg it would need to be braked.

I'm sure I read on a previous post that 800kg was the max but I might be wrong.

I fitted the lights and number plate to the newly painted rear panel last night and I couldn't stop grinning   

Until then it had been a pile of bits and pieces along with a bunch of ideas all locked away in my mind. It's great to see it coming together and so far it's everything I had imagined!

If all goes to plan I will start fitting the panels to the trailer frame this evening once I've secured the base and given it a liberal coat of underseal.

I was so happy with the rear panel that I forgot to take any pics! I'll try to take some later when I start working on it again.

Underseal done and dry (ish) so I've now properly fitted the rear panel and connected the lights etc.

Tallulah is back tomorrow - for a few hours at least - so I will test the lights and once I know the electrics are all good I can crack on with fitting the side and front panels and finally the mudguards and mudflats plus mics reflectors and a safety chain for legal compliance.

Here's a sneak peak of the rear panel complete with lights etc just to keep you going.


I promise to take some picks of the side panels etc going on and maybe one of the light testing with Tallulah.

Yep, purchased at VolksWorld in March along with a few other bits.

Pleased to report that all of the new lights have now been tested and work perfectly. Now to tidy up and hide all the cables.

Today was also the first opportunity I've had to properly compare the colour of the panels to Tallulah and I'm quite pleased with that too. If anything the panels are very slightly more yellow than Tallulah, but it's pretty close.

The momentum is building for the big launch!

So you'll be changing the emphasis in the word yellange to compensate, YELLange rather than yellANGE
