Up North Empty
PostSubject: Up North   Up North EmptyMon Aug 18, 2014 7:36 pm

After visiting the Peak District after CamperJam, decided it was time I headed further North. On a whim I decided to join English Heritage, so when my card arrived I decided it was time to set off only to find what was left of Hurricane Bertha was about to make an appearance. Being a Southern Softie I decided to wait a few days and let things settle down a bit.

Here are a few of the places I visited.

On route to the Dales I stopped at Roche Abbey

Then found somewhere to stay for the night. Not much to say about the campsite apart from A1 caravan park doesn't get it's name because of it's rating, even though it's a  camping and caravan club site, it's because on the other side of the hedge was the A1. Good job I had my earplugs Rolling Eyes No shower or wash facilities either, just a Porta Loo in the corner of the field.

Anyway the following morning I continued my journey North and Headed into the Dales, stopping off at Bolton Abbey, then Fountains Abbey

By then rain stopped play, so decided to find a place to stay. Can't remember the name of the site, but at least is wasn't near any major roads  Smile

Decided to get an early start as had a few places I wanted to visit over the next couple of days.

Started with Byland Abbey

Rievaulx Abbey

Pickering Castle

Scarborough Castle

Then Finishing with Whitby Abbey

Didn't think I'd be getting everything on the list done in one day, that plus the Saturday Holiday traffic the following day I decided to make my way home. The idea was to drive until I had enough then find somewhere to stay. I kept driving until I reached home 6hrs later

Hi Kiteman
You seem to have seen a lot more of Yorkhire than most. Like the snaps.
I admire your pluck. We don't see many from the South up here.
