| ....after you bought your kombi?
I was getting depressed reading all the answers for this question on the 'I have a be camper' Facebook group - answers like: new engine, recon gearbox, sandpaper, rust eater, welder etc - so I thought I'd post it on here.
Ours was a pair of levelling ramps and a kettle from a small camping shop near Cheltenham. This was our first adventure in mid March 2011 after collecting Tallulah from Yate and visiting Serena's Dad to collect a gas bottle and original 1970s awning.
What did everyone else buy first? ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| We bought some plates just before we went to Yate to look at vans, originally we had planned on a red van, the plates were blue, so the van had to be!! The first thing we bought after getting Mish was a roof rack from VW heritage. | |

| Stuff for a brew,...... gas bottle, kettle and mugs. Quickly followed by a Portuguese dictionary so that I could try to understand the handbook, and what everything did. | |

| I guess the first 'purchase' anyone made was insurance!
Second: petrol.
So really this topic should be what was the 3rd thing you bought! ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

So really this topic should be what was the 3rd thing you bought! Actually our insurance was bought and paid for two weeks before we collected Tallulah - required for DVLA registration etc - although we did fill up with petrol before leaving Yate, so in our case the ramps and kettle were technically our second purchase. But in any case, let's exclude insurance and petrol since everyone has to buy those. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

now got a Vango... happy again. We made the same mistake with our first awning purchase , brought it prior to being introduced to the forum , we've now got the Kyham and very happy too... Our first one didn't survive a trek up north.. ________________________________________________________________________________ Steve, Jo TigerLily and Carra the Child lovin' Golden Cocker

| I'm sure that most people would have bought items between the time they agreed to buy and the time of collection. We certainly did. But our first purchases after collection were things sized to fit - door-mat, washing up bowl for the sink and portable loo for the Buddy-seat. Not too exciting! osg

| Excluding the several tanks of fuel to get us home from Sheffield, our first purchase was the smev sink/hob and fridge as we needed to know the sizes for building the interior. | |

| 12 months RFL. Fortunately the DVLA automated phone system worked and as it was the first of the month I didn't lose any days.
First solid purchase was a tow bar bike carrier from Halfords and a bottle of T Cut.
