| I've promised Mrs B a trip to Cornwall this year, and I'd like to be close to St Ives. We've never been to this part of Cornwall, so I'd appreciate some suggestions for campsites from those with the Kernow Kombi Knowledge.
We're going to go for a week before we move on to Dubs in the Forest, so we'll be there, out of school holidays, from 18th September-ish!
Any help much appreciated. I'm assuming dogs will be allowed on beaches at that time of year.

| Sorry you can take dogs on the right side of the harbour only not on the side where the Tate gallery is. | |

| Sounds good, Tim, thanks for the heads up.
I'm still struggling to throw off this flu thing - off to York at the weekend so hope it's gone by then. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| We've stayed at Polmanter for the last 2 years. It is a very good site with excellent facilities. I would thoroughly recommend it. The walk to St Ives is all down hill but if don't want the effort of walking back up there are frequent buses that take you back to the campsite. We found a couple of fantastic dog walking beaches even in the height of summer. I'll post some details when I get home later. | |

| If you are travelling about with Boz, Abs, there are several links that tell you which beaches allow dogs, this is one.

| I always stay at Ayr holiday park. Perfect location and great views. Don't know if they allow dogs though. It's an easy walk to town centre and harbour.

| This was the beach we took Barney to in the Summer. The tide goes out for miles and is beautiful to walk along.

| It's not St Ives, but our favourite Cornish campsite is Porth Beach just to the East of Newquay. At low tide you can walk to the Glendorgal Hotel on the headland which has a great restaurant, it's a slightly longer less scenic walk along the path/road.
Have a look here: Porth Beach ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com | | www.vdubcamperhire.com | Twitter: @AlpineGrove | | Twitter: @tallulah_vw | Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| Ok, well the beach is worth a visit if nothing else, or maybe the hotel restaurant as a nice treat. Nice walks out on the headlands too, lots of history. ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com | | www.vdubcamperhire.com | Twitter: @AlpineGrove | | Twitter: @tallulah_vw | Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

| Porth Beach is on our list Keith , we're looking at sites between Newquay and Bude and hope to have made our decisions before the end of the month!

| For anyone visiting Cornwall, this link may be of interest.
For example if you want to know about the beaches south of Bude, click on the yellow line on the map and a list of all the beaches comes up. You can then click on a particular beach you fancy and it gives pictures and full details about location, parking etc.

Just in time for the St Ives Festival 12th/ 26th September. You will have a great time, St Ives is a fab place to visit, plenty to see and do. For dog beaches, Bamaluz located between Harbour and Porthgwidden beach is DF all year. Harbour beach is ok pre 8am and after 7pm. Sloop Inn is the place to go for beer with a good selection of local ales and they do good pub food. Port Gail en beach is our favourite and there's a great cafe on the beach with lovely posh food. You can take a beach chalet there which allow dogs as they are not on the beach, £12 per day or £80 per week. Visit the Tate St Ives and don't miss Barbara Hepworth studio and garden. It's a very cool, arty place to visit. We are there again this year from the 26th for a week. | |
