Hi, I know some of you have been to Ile de Re. I don’t suppose you had cause to use a garage whilst here you could recommend? I think my exhaust is going (getting pretty noisy) and need to get it patched up if possible. Bit of a long shot but thought I’d try.

If it’s a pipe and not box get a coke can cut both ends off cut end to end and wrap around damaged part and use jubilee clips if you get stuck

As daz says, you may be able to get a gungum bandage or similar. If its a box you can join jubilee clips together or use soft garden wire and twist ends with pliers to secure the coke can. Works as a get you home solution.

There is actually a very good Carrefour on the Ile. They do have a decent car parts section so you’d probably find an exhaust repair kit there. I always like to have a look around autoparts shelves!

Hi Jeff , did you driver down via Eurotunnel/Port of Dover ? I saw a van similar to yours with bikes on the back probably around 10 days ago travelling down the M20 , I was in my car going the other way.

Thanks for the responses. Still trying to find the leak - hard amongst all the rust there. Trying the cloth over the exhaust etc. Might have to give in and let a professional take over. Don’t think it was us as we came down from St Malo on Saturday ( you’d have heard us before you saw us!)

Eric Rocheteau garage did a good job when I needed new tyres on a previous visit. You might need to speak some French or use an interpreter or sign language! Tim will remember it.
