Hit and run

We have had the joy of the supermarket carpark. Our rear wheel arch has been crushed and a gouge goes on to the corner panel. Plenty of white paint left on the damaged area from the other vehicle and plenty of rubber from their tyre all over the end of the bumper. I had to pull the wheel arch off the tyre so we could drive, it is crushed that much. Typically they didnt stop, and no sign of a damaged white car in the car park. The shop manager has had a quick look on cctv but where we were parked isn't covered by the camera's. I have asked them to look at the exit camera to see if they can see a damaged white car leaving, but dont hold out much hope. Looks like the insurance is going to take a big hit, as i think we are going to need both panels replacing.
Got the impression from the police that this is a daily occurance in supermarket carparks.

That sucks big time. (I almost swore then )

Unbelievable Matt. Some people in this world have no conscience. They probably didn't have insurance. White-van-man maybe? Gutted for you.

However because your Kombi is a pastel colour the colour match will be perfect.

That's gutting. Fingers crossed that the CCTV manages to get something on the car park exit.

I assume you don't remember a white car next to you when you parked up? I bet they pulled in, hit you and then drove straight off

Know how you feel Matt, had the same thing happen to me, although only a minor scratch along the wheel arch. I was after blood I can tell you!!

I always try and park miles from anyone else in car parks, but they seem to be drawn towards the van.........

so sorry to here you news. Just athought though which may or maynot help. As the van was white when it came over just check that its not the original white of your van thats come through in the scrape as it may or may not be the colour of vehicle you are looking for. im sure you have checked this out but i thought id say somthing just in case. Fingers crossed you do get to the bottom of it with any details on cctv or any witness coming forward. Maybe a notice in the shop calling for a witness may help?

Gutted for you too! Lets hope the manager gets that CCTV footage! Incredible that they didnt even own up and leave you a message. Make sure your insurance company does a good repair with someone that knows the VW business well. You can choose the repairer if you think they are sending you to their 'approved' bodyshop to save some money! Genuine VW parts only... Let me know if I can help in any way.

No joy with the cctv. Off to a body shop to see what they think, hopefully we wont need a new panel, but i dought it, the wheel arch is a mess.

bad news on van mat,we had a rear end shunt on holiday !!! only 6 months old !! im sure you will get sorted,but know the feeling .the lady in the car actually said......... sorry i didnt see you !! green and white with 2 bikes on back !!! ,,some people should not be on the road,as for people who drive off ....shoot em

At last the insurance company have sprung in to action, have had an assessor out to view the damage and the repairs have been authorised, Steeeve is booked in for tueday to get surgery and hopefully we'll get him back on friday. No joy in catching the culprit

At least its now being sorted. Make sure you check the job well before you accept it back if the insurance co is using 'their recommended repairer' !!

Its not the recommended insurance repairer, was recommended by independent vw garage. The van is still on the road Scooby, just battered.

OK Matt Sorry we hope it will be all shiny & new soon and this battering will become a distant memory
