Your Tips and Tricks of the Trade Please Empty

As a newbie about to acquire his first campervan what are your top 3 tips or tricks of the trade ? They could come under the category of buying your first vehicle, must have options, preparing for that first trip away, maintenance - or any other topic you can think of.

I was prompted to post this having read a thread about preserving the charge in leisure batteries and fridges - something I wouldn't have thought about. HELP!

Pack toilet paper, water, teabags and chocolate digestives. Everything else will come naturally.

A good nights sleep is easier achieved when level.

Charge both batteries before you set off
Only have the fridge switched on when charging or driving
Do not always go from A to B - A to Zee can be better - wandering can be good

Plan somewhere to stash your watch, wallet, phone, loose change etc. as you bed down for the night - perhaps a hanging or magnetic pocket.

Haaaaaaaaaaa!

I have a head torch, or at least I did, along with 4 LED torches, but the magic fairys have hidden them in my sons bedrooms.......

My sons tell me they know nothing about the disappearing torches.

Head torches rock, but only if you keep your head still, otherwise they wobble... Razz

Agree Tallulah - a level van = good nights sleep. Get one of those tiny two way spirit levels and fix next to the driver's seat. Really useful and wheel chocks. warning triangle - or is that tempting fate !! Flip flops for late night trips to toilet. And a million other things that will only become apparent when you start using it. Things specific to us include Radio Flier !!, potty ! and chocolate cereals of any description !!
Come to the Sleepover and we can all compare notes

Perhaps someone could start a new topic here - What every van must carry.

Flip flops for the toilet/shower trips are definitely a great idea.

My torch was alays borrowed by my husband or son, so I asked for a girlie torch for Christmas. Neither of hem take my purple torch, so I can always find it when I need it.
