Gas cylinder Pan Empty
PostSubject: Gas cylinder Pan   Gas cylinder Pan EmptyFri Apr 20, 2012 3:11 pm

Some of you may know that I've just been on an amazing safari holiday in the Eastern Cape of South Africa - I can highly recommend it!

On one of the days we were out on the plains, our ranger Stuart, cooked us pancakes on this superb contraption:
Gas cylinder Pan Vidcam11
Gas cylinder Pan Vidcam13
The pan simply attached straight to the gas cylinder. So far, I haven't been able to find one on the web. Anyone seen these for sale in the UK?

Hi Tim, That looks like an older model Cadac, I dont think they sell the one that fits directly to the gas cylidner any longer, I have one, its great on the whole but can get affected by wind...same problem as Pasty has with his!

I'll have a look around see if i can find the direct attach model.

Tim, It is the high pressure version you are looking for. I am just surfing the web looks like you will have to try and find a second hand one, good thing is the grills, pans, scottle (the one you used in the photo) etc are all standard size so as long as you can get the base grill you can buy all the other stuff new.

Hi Tim was in Go Outdoors today, they had a a similar thing, as Kev says called cadac Skottel Braai, same looking, but on a tripod instead of straight on top of bottle. £79.99p. Very Happy

Roger Rog dizzy - seen it on their site. Thanks. I'm just thinking it may be a more flexible idea than my regular briefcase bbq and coals.

Hi Tim if you know anybody heading across to the mainland then you can pick up very similar from most camping supply stores including most of the autocamper / camping car dealerships

In france the further south you go the more likely you are to even have a range of choice as they are used for paella cooking outside.

We were out in the Cotswolds on Saturday, and between showers at Woodchester Park, (a nasty truss property) I thought I'd take some pics of our BBQ assembled, as you were looking for an alternative gas type, Tim.

Basic cooker mode.

Gas cylinder Pan Cadac_17

With flat plate for frying, (other side is ridged for griddling)

Gas cylinder Pan Cadac_18

With lid, which can be turned over to use as wok.

Gas cylinder Pan Cadac_19

As a conventional bbq grill.

This is the size when all packed away.

That looks a great bit of kit dizzy I noticed on Cadac's website you can also get a version to work off disposable cartridges. Is it a different version as shown on their website or can yours work off these cartridges too.

It's very compact I must say and so many different accessories to go with it.

Hi ST, no I think they are two different systems. We went for the one that runs of the 907 bottle with a regulator for two reasons, firstly we use the 907 bottle in the van so we would always have a 'spare', and secondly it was at the end of the season last year, and the camping shop were selling it cheap!
(I think the other version uses a screw in cartridge directly under the burner)

Not yet scoobs, only used it a couple of times as we only got it in October last year, and haven't had real decent weather since then! I originally got it for when we take the family out, and the grill/hob probably wouldn't cope. (we went for the non oven version cooking set up in Dizzy)

Apparently you can even roast a chicken with an optional extra, but at the moment starting easy with burgers, bangers, and fry-up, but according to the recipe book, you can do stir fries, pizzas, bake bread etc Shocked Roll on the summer Very Happy Very Happy
