| Hello
I have searched for an answer to this, but nothing really helped. Can anyone advise on a post-purchase security such as a wheel clamp or one of those steering wheel things? I just want to deter opportunist theives and want something visible and relatively easy to fit.
Thanks loads

| Hi FionaR We use a 70's Krook-Lock as a visible deterent Quick and easy to use - can get on Ebay now and then The wheel clamps offer greater security but are obviously more time consuming - again Ebay can offer options Hope this helps Rooby Roo ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| Both good suggestions Scooby... Both highly visible too. Trackers are good too and sometimes get you an Insurance discount...

But not very visible, as requested by OP, or pretty redundant if they are.

| Thanks both. I have got the tracker fitted - looking for something bright and obvious. There is just so much choice out there I didn't really know where to start!
I had thought of this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stoplock-HG-149-00-Steering-Thatcham/dp/tech-data/B003S51WII/ref=de_a_smtd . Very yellow but I am not sure it will fit.
Cheers

| These are local to me and look quite effective.
Not sure if they'd fit though.

| i saw that protection in tv in germany. there was no positives for that. they want shown the people how easy it is to brake down it very fast and easyly. first.: when they want your car . they can get it where ever you are and what ever you have done for protection. second: when there is a random thief than it is okay for it. 1. the broke with a bolt clipper it in a two seconds. 2. or the built the sterring up and then put a other steering in the car.
but its better than nothing . sorry for not positiv answer. it is not peronalyty to your.

| I tend to agree with Michel. I've always had a fairly sceptical view of such devices and feel if a crim wants your vehicle, then it will be taken (I had a loss after crims used a flat bed, in London, in a 30 minute window. But granted that was a motorbike, although it did have locks front and rear). Also modern vehicles' security is so much better that generally, the original keys are required.
I accept that against a purely opportunist thief, when offered a choice of vehicles, either with or without such "protection", they may help divert attention to the unprotected. But against modern immobilisers, an opportunist isn't going to get far anyway. Guess it might just save a window being smashed and a few wires being ripped.

| I've got one one of these Purpleline Fullstop Nemesis Wheel Clamp
They are heavy but thats a good thing, I use it when my Kombi's left on my drive. Gives me a bit of peace of mind, if they really want to steal it they will get it, just trying to slow them down or hear them in the act.

I dont think you would have an opportunist stealing one of these, its going to be organised gangs, have new number plates and then end up back for sale, or broken for parts.

| Be sensible now people - stop posting too much detail about your security - anyone could be reading this - and they do! ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| That button is really close to the 'go' pedal on the floor! That would stop the kids moaning about who's going in the front ! | |
