Rear independent camping heater - needed it or not?? Advice needed

I've asked Jason for a price to retro fit the petrol heater but I suspect it will be quite expensive.

Could someone who has one post a pic so I know what I'm looking at?

Thanks for that - have you used it much? We use a convector heater when we're on a site with EHU - I'm in two minds as to whether there's any real benefit for us.

I have used it and it's good. Takes the chill off very quickly, so haven't needed to run it for very long. Also, we haven't really had cold nights when I've wanted it on longer. Wet, yes, but not cold Not used it while driving either.

Can someone confirm that it is Ok to use the rear heater whilst driving and if its OK does it greatly affect petrol consumption? I haven't tried it yet but wonder if this would be better to use rather than the one up front which is quite noisy as mentioned in an earlier response.

Yes you can use the heater any time and it hardly uses any fuel...

Well, not quite. You can't use it when there's less than a quarter of a tank of petrol

Just been reading the Webasto manual (sad Fri evening on my own) and in particular, the tech specs. Fuel consumption of the heater at full bore is 0.27l/h. That's about 35p an hour. Not bad really.
Rated power at full bore is 22W, which isn't bad. I think my previous comments about sucking the life out of my battery must've been because of a flakey battery. My new 110AH battery, on paper at least should keep it going 60 hrs. OK, granted probably not but then again, its not likely to be running full bore all the time either.

Yep, definitely essential. I put mine on every morning at the moment.

Such things are needed more and more based upon our current summer weather!

Having one fitted next month when she's down at Danbury for a service. Wish we'd specced one when we first bought her.*



* actually, I wish I'd found this Forum before we bought her, then I'd have known which options to pick (not that I'd have knocked any off that we DID buy, just tagged a few more on, such as tints, heater, door cards, carpet, power steering, TV, etc!)

I'm glad I didn't get power steering. Norman is fine without it. The wife happily drives him. No hassles.

I have. I test drove both. I didn't think is was worth the expense and as I'm used to driving school minibuses in the past which didn't have PS it really doesn't bother me.
