Dubs in the Forest - 27>29 September - New Forest, Hampshire.

Less than a week to go for this one. Tickets all sold out as of a few weeks ago, hope everyone managed to book in time - I know Batman was looking for a spare ticket.

We'll be heading south from Reading at around 4pm, should be on site somewhere around 6pm.

Some friends are joining us on our pitch and they we'll get there before us - they're currently saving up for their own kombi although they don't actually realise that yet.

Show of hands, who else is attending?

We're all booked in... Going to be a 3hr drive for us so booked Friday off work.... Plan on getting there for about 2pm and have a leisurely set up.... Hope the weather improves , see you all there...

Great, we'll see you there a bit later. We're on pitch LL-207 apparently, Dave said he would try to get the Brazi Bays together where possible.

Have emailed Dave and he says the 3 Brazi Bays who indicated they were in the BrazilianVWbay Club have all been put together.. Am assuming Spike is with us as think Batman was still waiting on a cancellation... Weather not looking great  

Hi Folks, sadly due to an over running Americas Cup, I am still working in San Fran and will not be back home in time for Dubs in the Forest. I have a club pitch booked for the weekend. I have contacted the organisers and they are happy for me to transfer my pitch and 2 adult booking. I posted this last evening on the live chat forum but it may still be up for grabs. I was thinking of popping over to the show this afternoon as a day visitor.

Sounds good Only two Brazis us and Tallulah, we are next to each other so pop on over. Bit or drizzle in the air..

Having nice relaxing break so far and taking lots of pics so will feedback accordingly.. Site is great and would definitely recommend just missing a few more Braziibays

Happy to report back on a thoroughly enjoyable weekend..

Great site , easily coped with 115 vehicles,  We had hard standing for the van with grassed side area for the awning. We had plenty of space. Two possibly three large toilet/shower blocks on site. very clean and tidy and piping hot water all weekend.  The pitches that we and Tallulah had were maximum 150 yards away form the toilet/shower block and the on site Spar convenience store that was well stocked.

Entertainment on friday afternoon was Michael Buble tribute act ,  followed by an evening disco.
Saturday afternoon saw a Falconery display and live music (I believe this to be true as Jo and I decided to go for a walk and explore the surrounding area, which obviously meant we ended up in a local pub sampling the landlords finest !!). Saturday evening's entertainment were The Rockhoppers , a young five piece band covering The Beatles , Red Hot Chilli Peppers , Amy Winehouse , Cee Lo Green and many more. They were pretty damn good and very well received.

The entertainment area was no more than five minutes walk away from any onsite pitch.

About a dozen traders were there , there was a also a Burger Van , Thai Cuisine and a Coffee/Cake Stall.

Sunday morning saw us head off for around the New Forest for a non compulsory cruise , stunning views , plenty of photo opportunities (pics to follow) just watch out for the Pigs... Two young piglets were very taken with Tallulah and Sunday lunch was almost handed to us on a plate.. (Well avoided Serena!). Also need to avoid the ponies and the cattle grids are a bit of a necessary burden too...

A great 'low key' show , wouldn't be able to pitch the Kombicabana (11pm noise curfew) but couldn't have wanted for more in a great relaxing weekend.

Would we go again ? - YES
Would we recommend the event - YES

We also plan on using this site again next year as want to see more of the area and then move over into Dorset.

We really enjoyed our 'adventure' at Dubs in the Forest last year, despite the abysmal weather and 90% of the vans needing to be pushed out on the Sunday - although not the Barzi Bays as we had foresight enough to pitch in a dry(ish) corner with easy access to the road.

As a result of the aforementioned conditions and some changes imposed by the venue, the organisers made two big changes for this year:

1) The date was shifted from April to Sept - a tough decision, especially since some tickets had already been bought for the original date and venue.

2) The venue was also to change and move from a conventional 'park in a field' type event to a 'everyone has a proper pitch with EHU and access to showers because we're now on a proper campsite' type event, which also meant increasing the ticket price.

Thankfully, given those to rather significant changes, the remaining format was left untouched and it resulted in pretty much the same excellent event but with better facilities in a better location!

Thanks Tim, she purrs very nicely and is ready to tow when the need arises, as the tow bar is as yet unused. You can take a closer look in Brighton.

Keeping an eye out for a decent looking trailer we can customise, but not in a rush as we can hire a 'camping trailer' for £25/weekend from the Indespension retailer less than a mile away.

Looks like a great time was had by all, and the weather was a bonus, thanks for the pics and write-ups.
