Dub Aid 3 on 15 - 17th March 2013 Wiltshire

Oh, its this weekend is it. At the risk of ' what a plonker ' feeding across the airwaves, I have a little story to tell.

It was so nice on Saturday, we went for a trip out, and as I had written in my diary that Dubaid was on, I thought 'I know, we'll pop up to Charlton Park and say hello to the chaps'.

Went through Malmesbury and hadn't seen any VW's anywhere on the trip, but assured Pat there would be lots there.

No signs, nothing, but it was in my diary, so it must be right.

Drove through the main gate up the drive to the 'big house' and met a very nice lady walking her four dogs, whereupon she said 'hello, young man, may I be of assistance'.

At which point, it was beginning to dawn on me that I might have the wrong date.

Anyway to cut a long story short, she saw the funny side of it, and having a good look round Dizzy, she invited us down to the field where the organisers were having a site meeting, at which time I decided to beat a hasty retreat before I dug a bigger hole for myself.

The only upside of this little adventure is, that as I have now made friends with her Ladyship, I may get an invite to afternoon tiffin in the drawing room this weekend whilst others will be eating horse-burgers and charcoal sausages. (don't think so, somehow).

Do not worry - it'll be warm in Sunny - we may be let in for a while to de-frost
Bring plenty to wrap up in - layers we would suggest and thermals if you have them!
It will be warm in the entertainment tents
Doo not forget the BBQ

Putting the kettle on will help with heat in the van too

No heater in Tallulah either but we do have BBQ and firewood. Wondering whether to pack the geni so we can warm Tallulah up for an hour or two before bedtime with electric blankets and radiator?

Yeah going to take a BBQ with some of those crackle logs which burn really well I guess one day ill look into getting my webasto fixed!

Depending upon your 'bedtime' there are site rules about running generators at certain times which you may need to have a look at. Good idea though.

No electric blankets for me but I'll be very glad of my ice-line RAB sleeping bag

I checked the rules, we can run them until 9pm.

The electric blanket we have goes under the sheet and duvet and warms everything up. Once warm, and as long as the door stays closed, all should stay toasty for an hour or two.

If it doesn't work we won't bother for the second night but I think it might be worth a try.

Def worth a try.

Anyway, might not be that bad at the weekend?

We've managed to get a half day this Friday.
Scooby will therefore be leaving around lunchtime to head out into the frozen West!

OAP alert: I saw her in concert at Hammersmith and more sad to admit, had all her albums, though they're long since gone. I think they got junked when I transitioned to CDs.

I know it's still a bit early in meteorological timeframes but not happy with the way the forecast for the weekend is shaping up. 70% chance of rain Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Still, at least the nights should be above freezing, just.

There is a 30% chance it wont!
They cannot predict that far ahead to that degree of accuracy
It will probably be showers with dry gaps in between

HAA HAAARR! Jack and crew will be arriving around 11:00 on Sunday only a brief call to port but it's the powder monkey's Birthday! See you all there shipmates

Anyone know what the facilities are like at this event? Is there showers an stuff? Is it like camper jam ie just a field will I need to go buy some wellies

Just checked the Weather Channel (12.40pm) and they say the following:

Friday: 70% chance rain showers - 8 degree high and low of 2 degrees overnight
Saturday: 40% chance rain showers - 7 degree high and low of 2 degrees overnight
Sunday: 40% chance rain/snow showers - 6 degree high and low of -2 degrees overnight

Yes buy some wellies
They have those nice plastic toilet cubicles (porta-loos)
No showers - but water pipes
You are basically in a field - basic camping!
They have entertainment tents for the evening etc.
Traders stands and that's about it
