2013 Northern England Chapter Meet 10/11/12 May

The calendar is already filing up for next year so I thought we'd better try and get a date in for next year's meet.

If we're doing the Dales again I'd like to be there when the hay meadows are in flower so that means May or June. There are already a couple of events around that time (Kombi Sleepover and the DazDub Do) so it's not easy to fit ours in.

How does 10/11/12 May suit people?

I think we'll struggle at Usha Gap as they don't take bookings so we'll need to look elsewhere, which is a shame. There are some sites near Hawes but I like Lilydub's offer to do some investigation of sites over the winter and we can firm the location up early next year.

Just a gentle reminder of some May dates:
Monday 6th May is a Bank Holiday
10th to 12th May - your proposed dates
Monday 27th May is a Bank Holiday
Friday 31st May the Kombi Sleepover starts
A potentially busy month for travel opportunities!
Is there a half term in there some where too?

Half term (in Berkshire anyway) is 25th May to 2nd June.

It's really difficult trying to find free times for all these events hence why I've avoided half terms, the events already arranged and Bank Holidays, when we might struggle to get into sites with a block booking.

I would have preferred June but there are already two events on then, and then Camperjam in early July. After that we're into the main school holidays when people book their two week breaks.

I don't think there's any escaping the fact that there will be multiple events in any of the summer months. That's the nature of the beast and why it is so tricky organising these things. (And why I'm glad I don't get involved with organising)

I wish you luck setting an acceptable to all date but can only say I'll be there if I can. Sadly can't agree any dates for any event at this stage but it's nice knowing when they all are.

We know it is way off your ideal May or June, but would September be any good?
Say the last two or three weekends of September?

Had not factored that in to my suggestion - was only really looking at 'free' dates!

Thanks for kicking this off Martin - May 10/11/12 works for us and just to be clear this is the Northern ENGLAND meet - happy to attend Midland get togethers or Scottish ones if they get organised - the more the merrier

Thanks for getting next year's bash kicked off already. Your suggested 10-12th May works fine for us, so if we're allowed back t'up there, it'll make a cracking change from all of the Midland based events

Good work sorting this early - think you understand why now! Sadly I won't be able to make the suggested dates. The problem with shift work and not enough leave to cover everything.

Having looked into June dates last year there were the following events:

1st weekend - Plymouth Volkfest, Run to the Sun & Stoner Park
2nd weekend - Deva Show and Bristol Volksfest
3rd weekend - Mighty Dub Fest
4th weekend - Lavenham Vintage VW Show
5th weekend - free

Next year 'our' events already booked in June are as follows:

1st weekend - The Kombi Sleepover
4th weekend - The Daz Dub Do 2

So it looks like your proposed May dates will be the ones to go for

Yes I'm ok with looking into future sites,I have a few already ,I will contact them shortly and see how the land lies,will keep you informed ,MAY will be ok for us ,oooooohh no ,it's penny's bday around this time,so I'm sure we will be there,another excuse to have cake and buns from the "bolo de sehora"
