Hi - I have now located the VIN number but the next thing I can not find is the engine number - does anyone have any idea where that is located it is the 10 digit number on the log book .

Hi Ann, it should be on your registration document, and the same number is stamped into the side of the engine block, from memory it is directly above the oil filter, but it is a bit difficult to see.
You say yours is 10 digits long, but mine is 15 digits. I see you live in Portugal, is your Kombi registered there, or do you have a UK Registration Document. (I think the first five digits may refer to country of manufacture or engine type, and Portugal may omit them, but don't take my word for it)

But its not much use if thats not whats in the vehicle!
Plus dont something like 1-in-3 V5's have a mistake on them? I see it all the time, numbers missing from VIN, wrong numbers of seats, etc... its definately good to compare whats on the V5 with what it says on the vehicle.

This is probably another DVLA V5 error, as should really be 9 digits on a vehicle of this age, three letters and six numbers, e.g. ABC123456. Unless the brazilians have started sneaking another number on the end recently!
