we are thinking of getting one of these,to save having a fridge onboard, and no hassle of powering it,save the old battery.quite expensive ,but we will use it alot and get moneys worth. the cool ice box company www.coolicebox.co.uk saw one at vanfest / sorry should now be calling it busfest!! last year and was immpressed.
hi no not really,we would rather have more cupboard space, and we also are going to more remote locations and dont want to worry about batteries going flat,we will also use it away from vw as well,so a bit multi functional.it will keep fridge cool for 10 days and freezer cold for 4 so more than adequate, and you refreeze gel packs while away to start again. Will let you know how we get on.
Actually, I didn't originally see the gel packs on the link the first time I looked. Staying frozen for 4 days is impressive, and they're not that expensive either. Be interested to see results.
I have a Kampa Evo Ice House which can keep ice cool up to five days. Well, definitely three in absolute high summer, usually four/five. I buy a bag of ice from tescos, possibly two if hot weather to use as ice blocks and then, as well as a cool ice box, I have a great supply of ice cubes for cold drinks, pimms etc and this last weekend, for my daughters head when she fell off the swing at the campsite!
It works well for me and I don't have an onboard fridge.

If I remember correctly it supplied the ice for 'pre diner drinks' at the sleepover last year after we couldn't get into the campsite office/shop to collect the bags we had stored in the freezer. Much appreciated!

We've got one of these Coleman boxes that we use in the van sometimes. It doubles as an extra seat as well.
Keeps ice frozen for a few days - we often fill it with drinks and ice cubes for parties at home and we've got some of the gel packs as well that we use in it. We bought it from Go Outdoors a few years ago.
