What do you do for mobile Internet access, any recommendations preferably one off cost not pay as you go?

I was driving behind a public bus the other day and noticed that it had 'free WIFI on board'. It got me thinking that it can't be too difficult to apply the same technology to our buses.
Not being too technical I wouldn't know how.

I just go to places where they either have free wifi or I use the 3G signal and tether my iPad to my iPhone via the Personal Hotspot function.

Just use my phones 3g

From personal experience the best 3g network seems to be EE. Used to be on O2 and could never get a decent signal, never had a problem with Orange/EE

You can pick up a simple 3G router for around £30 but you will also need a SIM card. You can then setup your own WiFi network using the routers 3G connection but you are still reliant on the 3G signal strength.

It's exactly the same principle as using an iPhone with personal hotspot, but it means it can be fitted and powered by your leisure battery and won't run down your iPhone battery - using 3G on a phone kills the battery more than anything else.
