Subject: Beddgelert, Snowdonia Wed May 22, 2013 1:11 pm
If you enjoy a bucolic environment, we enjoyed the Camping in the Forest site at Beddgelert. Ideally located for walking in Snowdonia. Train station on site. Go to sleep to the sound of the stream, wake up to the cuckoo, and pied flycatchers on site. Felt ideal for campervans (we had an old T2 near us), and with pitches spaced between the woodland, you do not feel like a parking lot. We would happily go back to this site.
Having returned for 2 nights, we stand by all previous comments, and really like the site, but.... At the end of June rather than May, we were subjected to a major midge attack. It seems that the dreaded highland midge is now doing its worst in north Wales and the Lake District. We hope to visit the site again, but not in the summer midge season.
