| Was texted last night by a friend who was having a drink with a mate of his. This guy mentioned to my friend that he was interested in buying a VW camper & he told him about Daisy & myself. This guy then texted me to ask me what model etc I have. When I told him, he proceeded to tell me Daisy was a 'fake' because she wasn't 'vintage' & is watercooled!!!! My response...... What model do you have - Matchbox or Corgi?!!! He didn't respond! Just wondered if anyone else had experiences of dealing with idiots like this?!! | |

| Yes, there are some purists, but we know the truth!
More 'original' VW panels and parts than anything that might be considered 'vintage', 30-35mpg, and far less time on the hard shoulder or the back of an AA van.

| It is amusing that these guys fail to recognise that its built by VW at a VW factory by VW workers using VW parts. VW themselves trumpeted the last model made at the end of last year and it's at the museum at Wolfsburg. Hard to see what's fake. And as Tallulah says, we probably spend more time actually driving in ours | |

| It's their loss not ours. For everyone of those sniffy types there's a dozen who love our vans and long for what we've got.
The grocery delivery guy this morning is sure to be late with his next delivery today as we spent 45 minutes talking about Absinthe. Strangely, he wasn't bothered by the water cooled engine. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| As a widow with 2 kids and zero mechanical knowledge Daisy was the ONLY choice for us. The thought of spending our precious free time on the hard shoulder waiting for the AA is not my idea of fun! The use of the word 'fake' did annoy me, as you say Sunny, it's a VW! A touch of the green eyed monster perhaps? I suspect he's nursing a hangover whilst admiring his matchbox model! Miaow | |

| Just remember that the majority of parts that the so called purists put into Thier original vans are made by Vw in Brasil. | |

| On a more positive note, I parked behind a row of 3 beautifully decorated and decked out T 25's in Exmouth the other day. Noticing the owners in their wetsuits I wandered over and said, jokingly, that I hoped they didn't mind if I spoilt their line up. They said they didn't mind at all, as far as they were concerned my van was a VW and would I like to join their Friday morning coffee club? We had a lovely chat about our vans and I left feeling I'd made some new friends. What a lovely bunch! | |

| Now that's a far nicer story Kaz. Possibly the positive impact of being by the sea & enjoying the fresh air has on people. Perhaps the rude guy in question needs to escape London & mellow a bit. Getting away in a campervan might have a positive effect on him, does wonders for our mood | |

| What I'd like to know Sunshine Daisy, is why if this chap is so well informed about VW Campers, that he needed to dialogue with you about them in the first place?! ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| Good question Tim. I'm certainly far from being an expert & quite clearly he isn't either, just know that I love being out & about having fun with my family in Daisy. I've had some lovely comments and chats about her (especially when we head out with my brother & his family in his Brazilian). A couple of months ago I noticed an elderly man drive across a motorway service station car park, park up next to me & get out to tell me how much he liked her Was just a bit surprised by this guy's attitude last night & wondered if anyone else had experiences like this!! | |

| I suspect there was a certain amount of Dutch Courage behind the texts. Regardless, you're happy with your campervan and we're happy you joined us. Is your brother a member on here then? ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |
