| Ok so here we go ... the news I know you've all been waiting for .... I certainly have been pacing up and down .... we're on our way to the Ile de Re ... to a place called Interlude. By the looks of it it's a fabulous site and they've bent the rules to allow us in and pitch together. We have 10 pitches. The dates are travel out Friday 24th July Portsmouth to St. Malo. Saturday 25th July Kombi konvoy down to Interlude on the Ile de Re. 14 nights at the campsite. Depart Interlude early 8th August to get the afternoon ferry back from Caen to Portsmouth. Anyone wanting to go back early to split the return journey will be welcome to, you can arrange that when the bookings go in. Prices to follow shortly ie when I get the email. Looks lovely ..... it's going to be epic! Interlude Campsite ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| I've just spoken to Jean - they're not ready to take deposits yet - she's suggested I ring back after 2pm.
I've just seen Daz's note above - if we can't get on the St Malo crossing we may opt not to drive down with the Krew. We'll almost certainly not want to sail to Caen.
Tim - have you any idea what time we'd be leaving the site on the last day, to get back to Caen? ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| Spoke with Karen - yes the St. Malo ferry is full. We'll need to go via Caen. We'll stop for a decent break half way this time.
It will be an early departure on the return day. No later than 8am.
Base price is £1412.00 from Caen. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Could somebody give me an update on the ferry situation please? We're flexible on timing so we don't necessarily have to be in convoy in both directions. We also have to travel from the north, which means that even if we don't take an overnight ferry we would have to stop over in the Portsmouth area. | |

That works for the outward trip, but the return ferry doesn't get into Portsmouth until 21.15. That means either stopping over in Portsmouth or taking the overnight ferry instead.

| Slightly off-topic, I know, but for booking a ferry crossing what do you book as?
- large car? (up to 4.5m long, 2.5m high)
- Motorhome?
On Dover/Calais routes I noted a 50% price difference if you book as a motorhome, but didn't want to book as a large car and get charged extra on the spot.
